The freshly restored “Lady Justice” found her way back home to Darke County and resumed her residence at the sunny morning of Tuesday, June 6.
The Lady was taken down on 12/1/2022 and Midstate Contractors performed a full restoration (so, kind of like Cher visiting her plastic surgeon, but Lady Justice didn’t do it that often).
She had to be taken apart in pieces and all existing paint and loose metal had to be removed. In addition to the restoration of the body, Midstate Contractors restored the original scales and built a new sword.
To prevent damage from movement and to secure Lady Justice in place, additional framing and structure inside was engineered. Also, a new structural base and support pole were fabricated.
Then, the Lady was primed and painted.
The 149 year old Lady had her last beauty treatment in 1991.
