(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) Director Emily Davidson announced that an educational video aimed at teenage drivers has secured a nomination for an Ohio Valley Regional EMMY award.
The 5-minute video was the first in OTSO’s series of educational videos and aims to convince teenage drivers of the dangers of distracted driving. The young hosts explain Ohio’s traffic laws by going through some of the questions driver education instructors hear most often about distracted driving. OTSO partnered with Fahlgren Mortine, a Columbus-based advertising agency, for the production and to help craft an engaging and creative video that could be included as part of the curriculum in driver education classes across Ohio. The video made its debut at the Ohio State Fair in 2022.
“It is an exceptional honor to be nominated for our first EMMY award,” said Davidson. “I want to congratulate our team whose goal was to combine creative visuals with important facts and statistics to help Ohio’s young drivers understand the risks of distracted driving. This video delivers a safety message in a way that is memorable to youth in Ohio.”
