Steven J. Manning, age 76 of Lawrenceburg, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 8:35 PM at the Wellsprings Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in Decatur, Indiana on May 19, 1947, he was a son to the late Robert & Velma (Minger) Manning. Steven was a Winchester High School graduate, class of 1965. After high school Steven joined the United States Marine Corps serving from 1966 – 1969. Steven was deployed to Vietnam serving 17 months as a radio man and tunnel rat with Gulf Company, 2nd Battalion / 5th Marines at An Hoa south of the DMZ. During his tour, Steven received many awards and citations including a Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster. Following his time in the service, Steven worked at Maul Brothers, Kerr Glass Factory, and was an owner/operator semi-truck driver. Steven last worked as farm manager at RG Applegate Farms for 18 years.
He was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Saratoga, Indiana. In his free time, he loved sitting on the porch, being outdoors, and being “Mr. Fix-It”. Steven enjoyed going to casinos with his wife, Debbie, and talking to his Vietnam buddies Lt. Harvey; Doc and Mark Oakes. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Eurby Grubbs and mother-in-law Phyllis Pouder.
Survived by his wife of 36 years, Debbie (Pouder) Manning, whom he married January 16, 1987: children Marcie (Manning) Harris; Jeremy Manning; Jodi (Manning) Barton; Matthew Voke; Kevin Voke: grandchildren Brittany Harris; Mason Harris; Alexis Manning; Ella Manning; Addie Barton; Elena Barton; Ostin Manuel; Savannah Voke; Wyatt Voke; MacKenzie Voke; Kayden Voke: 2 great-grandchildren: siblings Jerry & Amber Manning; Bobby & Beverly Manning; Mark & Mary Manning; Debbie Grubbs and father-in-law Chester Pouder.
