Vandalism

On July 19th, 2023 police was dispatched to 733 Gray Ave in reference to a vandalism complaint. Police made contact with the complainant/victim, Connie Hart. Hart advised sometime between 6:00PM on 07/18/23 and 6:45AM on 07/19/23 someone had popped holes in two tires of her vehicles. Hart advised it was the front passenger side tire on her 2012 Ford Focus and the same tire on her 2005 Ford F-150. Hart advised that she woke up this morning and discovered both tires were flat when she attempted to drive them to work. The F-150’s tire was replaced by J&M Tire earlier in the day and police was unable to get pictures of the tire. Hart was able to send a picture of the F-150’s tires. Police did take pictures of the Focus’s tire. Hart colored the holes orange prior to the police’s arrival. There is potential camera footage from south park that police will attempt to look at. On 07/21/23 police received an email from Hart stating she found a steak knife in her driveway that she now believes to possibly be the item used to puncture her tires. Police retrieved the knife on 07/22/23 and placed it into property. A victims right form was also left at the residence on 07/22/23. Hart was advised she could fill it out or bring it to the police department if she wished. A message was left for Matt Myers at the Street Department in reference to reviewing camera’s from South Park. On July 27th, 2023 police received an email from Wesley Wirrig who advised he reviewed camera footage and was unable to see anything. This case can be considered closed.

Trespassing

On July 24th 2023 at 8:03 PM, police was dispatched to 335 West Third Street Greenville OH 45331 in reference to a trespassing/disorderly complaint. Police made contact with the complainant Michael Swiger. Michael stated that his neighbor, later identified as Melissa Marchal, at 325 West Third Street had stepped on his property after previously being warned for trespass, after confronting Melissa about stepping on the property, Michael stated that Melissa was yelling and cursing at him and his children, and children’s friends. Michael stated there were six kids present during Melissa’s incident, ages 10, 9, 8, 6, 6, and 5. Melissa was previously warned for trespassing at 335 W. Third and disorderly conduct on July 9th 2023. Michael showed police security video that showed Melissa stepping off the public side walk and stepping into his yard. While doing this Melissa was cursing towards Michael and the 6 children that were present; causing an annoyance and alarm to them. When speaking with Melissa, she admitted to yelling at cursing at Michael’s children that were out front his residence. Police informed Melissa that she was being cited for trespass and disorderly conduct. While filling out the citation Melissa begin filming the interaction with her phone, calling the police “losers” and insulting the POs. Police then warned Melissa again for disorderly conduct. Melissa was served a copy of her citation for criminal trespassing and another citation for disorderly conduct, Melissa was advised of her court date and time. Due to the disorderly conduct offense occurring within 1000 feet of St. Mary’s Catholic School the offense is enhanced to a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.

Trespassing

On July 27th, 2023 at approximately 3:15 PM police was dispatched to 91 North Ohio Street, Reigning Cats and Dogs in reference to a trespassing incident. Police made contact with the victim/complainant, Casey Helmer, the owner of the listed business. Casey stated that her ex husband, Ralph Helmer, had been in the parking lot of her business in his truck recording her on his cell phone and accusing her of having sexual relations with a city employee named Chris. Casey stated that she was not having any sexual relations with Chris. Casey stated that Chris was just scheduling an appointment for his dog to be groomed. Casey stated that Ralph sent their l0yr old son, Liam Helmer, into the store recording on a cell phone asking for Chris. Casey stated that she made Liam leave and he got back into Ralph’s truck that was still parked in the parking lot in front of the business. Casey stated that Ralph would probably post the video on Facebook live. Casey stated that Ralph has been warned for trespassing before. Casey showed police videos and photos of Ralph in his truck in her parking lot. Police advised Casey that police would make contact with Ralph. After speaking with Casey, police looked up the last time that Ralph had been warned for trespass. Ralph was warned on 02/08/2019 for trespassing on the property by GPD. Police attempted to make contact with Ralph by phone and was unable to do so. Police did leave Ralph a voicemail asking him to contact the police. Police went to Ralph’s residence to make another attempt to contact him but was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence. Police checked Facebook due to Casey stating that Ralph may have recorded the whole incident. Ralph had posted a video on Facebook that police observed on today’s date, July 27th. Ralph’s video showed a city vehicle in the parking lot of Casey’s business. Ralph was stating that the city employee, Chris, was inside of the business flirting with Casey during work hours. Ralph stated that he did not believe that a city employee would be in the business during work hours flirting with Casey until Liam advised him that Chris was in the business all the time. Liam stated that he parks his car in the back of the business so that his boss does not see him. Ralph stated that he would go inside of the business to show the viewers that Chris was inside of the business but knew that he was not allowed to be in the business so he sent Liam into the business. Liam entered the business with his cell phone still recording on Facebook live to catch Chris inside of the business. Liam went inside and asked Casey if Chris was there. Casey stated that Chris was there and attempted to grab the phone from Liam. Liam went back out to the parking lot where Ralph was still parked in his truck. Liam got back in Ralph’s truck and gave Ralph his phone back. Ralph started driving around the building and stating that Chris was going to go running out of the back to get to his car. Ralph recorded a male subject leaving the building and walking back to the parking lot. Ralph began yelling “There he is” “There is our city worker hard at work using our tax payer dollars”. Ralph stated that he had to get his truck and trailer home because he knew that “The Cops will be rolling up 11 or 12 dee ‘- Ralph drove away and continued to state that all the government officials are “Shady” in Greenville. After watching the video on Facebook live police saw another Facebook live video that Ralph had posted. Ralph had actually recorded the cruiser outside of the business while police was there taking this report. Ralph recorded police getting back in the cruiser. Ralph stated that police was “Pissed” and that police would be following him all around town. Ralph drove away and continued recording himself talking about how he is being harassed. Ralph’s recording then ended. Police obtained a written statement and victim rights form from Casey. Ralph’s video on Facebook was copied to a DVD and placed into GPD property as evidence. Casey also emailed police her surveillance video of the listed business which was filed into GPD records with this report. Police has not received any call back from Ralph or has made contact with him.

Wanted Person

On July 28th, 2023 at approximately 10:59 AM, Officers from the Greenville Police Department responded to 307 Oxford Dr. Apt #401, in the City of Greenville, to locate James Grimwood who had an active felony arrest warrant through the Darke County Sheriff’s Office due to a Greenville Police Department case for four counts of Rape and three counts of Gross Sexual Imposition. Warrant was confirmed with GPD dispatch. Police Officers arrived and knocked on the door. PO heard a voice tell him to “come in”, PO opened the door as James Grimwood was coming to the door. Police asked him to step out into the hallway, to which he complied. James was placed in handcuffs. Police advised James that he was being placed under arrest for four counts of rape and three counts of gross sexual imposition. Police officers assisted him with sliding his shoes on before he was escorted to a PO’s cruiser and placed into the backseat. The PO transported James to the Darke County Jail and police cleared the scene.

Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On July 28, 2023 at approximately 11:13 AM police was dispatched to 307 Tillman Avenue in reference to a wanted person. Police observed another PO place the wanted person/defendant now known to police as Christapher Baughey in handcuffs. Christapher was searched incident to arrest with no contraband being located. Christapher had a felony warrant through the Darke County Sheriff’s Office for Failure to Appear. Christapher’s warrant was confirmed through dispatch. Christapher was transported to 5185 County Home Road; Darke County Jail where he was released into the custody of jail staff.

Traffic Stop

On July 29, 2023 at approximately 10:00 PM police responded to the 200 block of Washington Avenue to assist other POs on a traffic stop. Police learned a P.0. initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for having no license plate and for a turn signal violation. Police also learned the driver had refused to identify himself by giving his name or providing a driver’s license. Police made contact with the driver, who stated that he didn’t need to identify himself because he doesn’t follow Ohio laws. The driver also stated he didn’t need to identify himself because he believed a traffic violation isn’t a crime. Police then learned that the driver had a.22 caliber handgun concealed in his boot. Police asked the driver to exit the vehicle on nine separate occasions, and he refused to comply each time. Police then advised the driver to turn the vehicle off and he refused, so police removed the keys from the ignition before seizing them. Police then advised the driver if he didn’t exit the vehicle, police would have to physically remove him from the vehicle. Police told the driver to exit the vehicle six more times and he refused. The driver put his phone in the police’s face and police removed it from his hand before placing it in the passenger floorboard. Police then grabbed the driver’s arms and he tensed his arms and body up to make it more difficult to move him. 3 PO’s pulled the driver from the driver’s seat of the vehicle before placing him onto the ground. The driver was placed into handcuffs. The driver’s.22 Caliber handgun was seized, and he was placed into the backseat of a cruiser. Police then found several articles of mail that had the name “Robert Hammaker” on it. Dispatch checked LEADS/NCIC and the driver was identified as Robert. Robert was transported to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office jail where he was released to staff. No officers or Robert were injured as a result of this incident.
