APRIL 18, 1936 – AUGUST 18, 2023
Wayne Eugene James, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home, on Friday, August 18, 2023. Born on April 18, 1936 in Darke County, Ohio, he was a son to the late Stanley and Ada Mae (Dispennette) James. Wayne was a graduate of Greenville High School, class of 1954. He was also a United States Army Veteran, having served overseas in Korea; as well as a member of the Gettysburg Masonic Lodge NO. 477 and also a 32nd degree Mason of the ancient accepted Scottish rite, Valley of Dayton. He had worked many years at Corning Glass as an electrician. In his free time Wayne enjoyed listening to big band music, going to car shows, and digging into history both local and civil war; and fishing and hunting for artifacts. He was very supportive to all his sons, and their endeavors. Wayne loved watching Britton and Beckett play baseball and spending time with them at the lake house. Many people in the community know him as “Buster”. He was a great father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be truly missed. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Linda M. James.
Survived by his sons Mike James; Doug James; Chris & Niki James: grandchildren Britton James; Beckett James: brother Charles & Helen James: sister Connie & Charles McKibbon: as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Funeral service at 1 PM with Pastor Todd Reish presiding. Burial to follow at Abbottsville Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s in Wayne’s memory.
