Assault

On September 17 2023 at approximately 5:55 PM police responded to 500 Lease Avenue; North Park, reference a fight. PO made contact with a 15 year old male. He was also on the phone with his mother. The juvenile stated that he was playing basketball with some friends of his. He stated that the CV started talking about his girlfriend, and he did not like it, so he punched the CV twice. Bradley also stated that the CV did not punch him or hit him. PO also spoke to the CV. The CV stated that earlier in the day the other juvenile was making fun of him for his weight, so he started talking about his girlfriend. The CV stated that the 15 year old began to chase him, but he did not want to fight him so he started running away from him. The CV stated that when the 15 year old caught up to him he began punching him in the back. The CV had a visible fist print on his back from this incident. The CV filled out a written statement and a victims rights form. The CV’s mother also responded to the scene to pick the CV up. PO then spoke to the 5-6 friends that were there with the CV and 15 year old. All subjects stated that the 15 year old was making fun of the CV’s weight, so the CV began talking about the 15 tear old’s girlfriend. All of them stated that they thought they were just joking around because they do that all the time. All subjects stated that the 15 year old began chasing after the CV, and the CV was running away stating he did not want to fight. All subjects stated that the 15 year old struck the CV several times. The 15 year old was issued a citation for assault and advised that the Juvenile Court would contact his mother reference a court date. His was also advised. He was then transported to his house at 1115 Harrison Avenue and released. Photos were taken of the CV’s injuries.

Menacing

On September 17th, 2023 police was dispatched to 1218 Oaktree Dr in reference to a possible telephone harassment/menacing complaint. PO made contact with the complainant, Danielle Worsham, the mother of the child victim (CV). Worsham explained the CV was getting threatening messages via text message. PO made contact with the CV who stated she was texting a friend about an ex-girlfriend of the CV’s. The CV stated that a female took his friend’s phone and texted her saying she would find where she lives and put a gun to her head. PO asked the CV if she believed the threat and she stated that she believes the female could do it. The CV explained that the female told her that she has killed people before. The CV’s mother wished to pursue charges due to the female being 18 and was concerned for her daughter due to the threat of serious harm. PO went and located the female at her residence at 607 E Third St. PO spoke with the female and she admitted to texting the CV the threat and stated she probably shouldn’t have said that. PO issued the female a citation for Aggravated Menacing. The female was advised of her mandatory court date and time and given her copy. The CV completed a witness statement form in presence of her mother as well as given a victim’s right form that was completed. The CV’s mother took pictures of the text messages and emailed them to the police.

Domestic Violence

On September 17, 2023 at approximately 9:05 hours police responded to 1009 Donald Drive reference a welfare check. PO made contact with Betty Reyna. Betty advised she was in a verbal argument with her daughter who does not reside at the listed residence, but is staying for a few nights. Betty advised the argument was over her daughter having the garage door opener. The daughter returned the garage door opener. Both subjects will be staying at the residence. BCI only. No school age children present.

Domestic Violence

On September 18, 2023 at 2:09 AM police was dispatched to the area of 609 Walnut Street, Greenville, Ohio, in reference to an unknown female complainant requesting police assistance for an unknown issue. The PO found Danniel Elliott and Dustin Kendrick were currently involved in a verbal altercation at their shared apartment, 609 Walnut Street, apartment 14. The verbal argument stemmed from Elliott being away from the residence for an extended period of time (approximately one week according to Kendrick) and Elliott not providing proper care for her sixteen year old son, who is currently living with Elliott and Kendrick. Elliott and Kendrick have been in a dating relationship for approximately three months and the verbal altercation did not escalate to physical violence. The scene investigation also revealed Elliott does not have custody of Denny. Brittany Hathaway, the aunt, currently has custody of the juvenile and Hathaway is aware that the juvenile is living with Elliott and Kendrick. PO attempted to make contact with Hathaway via the telephone and proceeded to leave a voicemail requesting Hathaway contact the PO. Kendrick decided to leave the apartment for the night, while Elliott and the juvenile stayed at the apartment.

TPO Violation

On September 19, 2023 at approximately 2:51 AM police was dispatched to 114 Surrey Lane, Greenville, Ohio, in reference to a prowler complaint. Beth Kendrick, resident of 114 Surrey Lane, reported she heard noises outside of her residence and requested the area checked for a possible prowler(s). While en route to the scene, Dispatch advised that Beth Kendrick currently has a Temporary Protection Order issued against Dustin Kendrick; DOB: 09-15-1989; and Beth Kendrick advised that Dustin Kendrick is currently inside of her residence. Dustin Kendrick and Beth Kendrick are currently married. PO spoke to Beth Kendrick, who confirmed Dustin Kendrick was currently inside of her residence. Prior to entering the residence, PO contacted Greenville Police Department dispatch center, who confirmed there is an active TPO issued against Dustin Kendrick with Beth Kendrick being the protected person. The TPO was filed on September 12, 2023 and indicates Beth Kendrick has exclusive possession of 114 Surrey Lane, Dustin Kendrick is to stay 75 yards away from Beth Kendrick and Dustin Kendrick shall not have any type of contact with Beth Kendrick. Police proceeded to make contact with Dustin Kendrick, who was sleeping on the living room couch inside of 114 Surrey Lane. PO advised Dustin Kendrick of the TPO violation, in which Dustin Kendrick acknowledged he was served a copy of the TPO but claimed he was not violating the TPO due to Beth Kendrick had invited Dustin Kendrick to her residence. Note: It appears Dustin Kendrick was served a copy of the TPO on or about September 16, 2023. PO placed Dustin Kendrick under arrest for the TPO violation by securing Dustin Kendrick in handcuffs. PO searched Dustin Kendrick’s person, with no items of contraband being found. PO transported and released Dustin Kendrick to the Darke County Jail where PO also served Dustin Kendrick misdemeanor citation for the TPO violation. Police obtained a victim’s rights form, along with a written statement from Beth Kendrick. Beth Kendrick indicated she had just recently moved into 114 Surrey Lane and while in the process of moving into the residence, Dustin Kendrick happened to be riding by the residence on his bicycle. Dustin Kendrick came to Beth Kendrick’s residence a couple of days ago and with Beth Kendrick being scared of Dustin Kendrick, Beth Kendrick called the Greenville Police Department on September 19, 2023 to report the TPO violation.

Domestic Violence

BCI only between Rebecca Braun and Justin Werkema. Braun and Werkema reside together as boyfriend and girlfriend in a relationship and were in a verbal argument. They have no kids in common and no school aged children were present. Werkema left the residence for the day.

Theft

On September 19th, 2023 police was dispatched to 300 Martin St (Family Dollar) in reference to a theft complaint. PO made contact with the store manager, Elizabeth Baumgardner. Baumgardner advised that her employee, Kathryn Lovejoy, was scammed out of $995.18 the previous night on September 18th. Baumgardner advised that two unidentified customers came into the store and loaded $500.00 on Apple gift card and $490.00 on a Pay As You Go gift card and also had a birthday card to purchase at the front counter. Baumgardner advised that one of the males distracted Lovejoy and was asking about Cigarillos behind the counter. Baumgardner advised when Lovejoy’s back was turned you can see on surveillance the other male reach across the counter and “cash out” the transaction on the computer. Baumgardner explained when the “cash out” button is hit it opens the money drawer as if the purchase was completed with a visa on the customer side of the register. Baumgardner stated when Lovejoy turned around with the Cigarillos the first male claimed he paid with a visa. Baumgardner stated Lovejoy then completed the second transaction for the Cigarillos and gave them the merchandise and they left without actually paying for the giftcards. Baumgardner showed police the video from the stores camera and explained everything to the PO. Baumgardner gave PO pictures of the suspects as well as a copy of the video that was placed into property. PO also spoke with Kathryn Lovejoy. Lovejoy advised that the two males entered the store at approximately 3:00PM. Lovejoy explained one of the guys made a transaction and purchased the two separate pre paid cards. Lovejoy explained the two were trying to distract her and get her to turn her back to the camera. Lovejoy explained that the last time she came back to the counter it appeared the male half had paid. Lovejoy did explain that she asked for identification when the male paid for his cigars and noticed it was a Michigan ID car. Lovejoy said she scanned the ID. Lovejoy said they left in a silver 4 door SUV with unknown Ohio tags. Baumgardner is checking with the corporate office to see if they have the information retained from the scanning of the Michigan ID. Baumgardner was also given and filled out a victims right form for Family Dollar with her as a representative of them. Baumgardner also advised that approximately 6 other Family Dollars had theft complaints in the area by the same two suspects. The two suspects are described as black males, both wearing sandles. One was wearing gray sweat pants and shirt with a blue hat and had med length dread locks. The other was wearing a white hoodie with darke colored writing and black pants. This case needs further investigation.

Wanted Person/Warrant

On September 19, 2023 at approximately 3:43 PM, police was dispatched to 1301 Wagner Ave in reference to a person with a warrant. Complainant advised Justin Crabtree was there and had a warrant out of Montgomery County. PO located Justin and told him about the warrant. Justin was found to have a Probation Violation Warrant out of Montgomery County, original charge was for dangerous drugs. Dispatch confirmed the warrant with Montgomery County Sheriffs Office. Justin was arrested, searched incident to arrest and then I transported him to the Greenville Police Department. Police then transported Justin to the Darke County Jail where he was released to their staff and incarcerated.

Wanted Person/Fugitive from Justice

On September 21, 2023 at approximately 12:52 PM police was dispatched to 774 Gardenwood Drive in reference to a wanted person. PO observed the blue 2018 Kia Forte registered to the defendant; Monique Phlipot parked in the driveway of the residence. PO knocked on the front door of the residence and Monique advised that she would meet at the side of the residence due to being unable to exit the front door. PO went to the West side of the residence where he observed Monique exiting her backyard. PO advised Monique that she had a warrant for her arrest for failure to appear on the original charge of disorderly conduct with a $275 bond through GPD. Monique was placed under arrest into handcuffs. Dispatch was contacted and confirmed the warrant. The defendant was taken over to the cruiser where she was searched incident to arrest with no contraband being located. The defendant was placed into the back of the cruiser and transported to the Darke County jail where she was released into the custody of the jail staff.
