DCED Announces New Workforce Specialist

Darke County Economic Development is excited to announce that Denise Elsas has joined the office as the new Workforce Specialist. Tamala Marley, who currently serves as the part-time Workforce Specialist, will be retiring in November 2023 and Denise will be filling the role in a full-time capacity. Denise brings over 16 years of non-profit experience and extensive employer engagement experience to the role.

Denise most recently worked for CureSearch for Children’s Cancer where she supported companies in creating fundraising events or assisted the company and their employees in fundraising events that impacted children’s cancer research. She has engaged with over 75 companies through her fundraising experience and organized multiple fundraising events across the country.

“I am excited to support our Darke County industry partners in continuing to build their workforce and in addressing workforce needs for the community” Denise said. “I am also excited to share new ways to promote the amazing opportunities that are here in Darke County with our industry partners for individuals to be able to grow their careers.”

The Workforce Specialist role will work with Darke County companies to build pipelines to assist in their continued growth and will also assess their needs to find new opportunities. Additionally, the Workforce Specialist will work collaboratively with the Career Connections Coordinator to provide opportunities for not only the emerging workforce but also for other talent pipelines in Darke County.
