Versailles FFA participated successfully in the District 5 FFA Soil Judging competition

On Wednesday, September 27th the Versailles FFA participated in the District 5 FFA Soil Judging competition.

The Versailles FFA members who participated in rural soil judging included: Levi Barga, Jayna Luthman, Trevor Luthman, Hannah Luthman, Maggie McGlinch, Ben Pitsenbarger, Luke DeMange, Josie Pothast and Molly White-Shappie.

This team placed 6th in the district contest out of 39 teams. Levi Barga placed 3rd overall in the district out of 230 plus individuals leading the Versailles team.

The Versailles FFA members who participated in urban soil judging included: Patrick McGlinch, Adam Rauh, Luke Kaiser, and Travis George.

This team placed 11th out of 21 teams. Patrick McGlinch led the team placing 13th overall in the district out of over 130 individuals.

A special thank you to Darke County Soil and Water Conservation District for hosting the contest. As part of the contest Versailles FFA members evaluated 3 soil pits, took a written test over their knowledge of soils and related topics and tested over the soil survey related to Darke county.
