Greenville Police Department – Police Reports

Theft (not in progress)

On November 6th, 2023 at approximately 2:32 PM, police was dispatched to the Greenville Police Department in reference to a theft report. PO made contact with Barry Riddle. Barry stated he received a notification from his bank, Navy Federal Credit Union that someone tried to pull out $200 using his debit card number at the Marathon station at 1201 East Russ Road at approximately 11:00 to 11:10 AM. Barry advised it was unknown if the card was used at a pump or ATM. Barry advised his bank declined the transaction. Barry advised he wanted to report the incident. Barry filled out a statement and a victims rights from. After speaking to Barry, PO went to the Marathon station to check their camera footage. The clerk showed PO camera footage from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and PO did not observe anyone using the ATM. PO asked the clerk if there was any $200 transactions that were declined during the day. The clerk advised there were no $200 transactions inside the store all day. The clerk advised if a transaction was declined at a pump, the pump would not have any record of the transaction. PO gave the clerk his card and advised her that if she was able to find a $200 transaction by any means to contact PO.

Domestic Violence

On 11/07/23 at approximately 11:22 PM, GPD was dispatched to 5436 SR 49 S room 102 on a report of a domestic disturbance. Mother, Crystal Moreland, contacted GPD after her son called her and stated he was in an argument with his father, Dallas Moreland. Upon arrival, police spoke with the son who stated his dad was intoxicated and they had gotten into an argument. He stated that when his dad came at him he pushed him to get him away. He then grabbed some of his personal belongings and went outside. Police spoke with Dallas who initially was uncooperative. Both parties denied having any injuries or wanting charges. The son just wanted to leave. His mother arrived from Piqua and took him to her house for the night. The son was advised to contact GPD on 11/08/23 for a keep the peace to retrieve the rest of his belongings.

CPO Violation

On November 8th 2023 at 1:15 PM police was dispatched to 519 Southbrook Drive in reference to a possible CPO Violation. Dispatch informed PO that the protected person/complainant Susan Waldon received a phone call from her neighbor stating a grey ford taurus was in her driveway at 519 Southbrook Drive matching the one owned by Clifford Waldon, who she has an active Civil Protection Order (CPO) through the Darke County Courts against. The CPO states that Clifford is not to be within 75 yards of Susan or where she may be such as her residence or to be on the property. Susan was currently at work out of town and wanted police to check. PO made contact with the daughter of Clifford and step daughter to Susan, who resides at 519 Southbrook Drive. She advised PO that Clifford was not there and it was Darke County Children Protected Services. After speaking with Susan on the phone, PO made contact with Amanda Barger from Darke County Children services, Amanda advised she was at 519 Southbrook at approximately 1:00 PM and was in the Silver Chevy Impala that the neighbor saw. Before leaving the scene, Clifford drove his silver Ford Taurus on the public street directly Infront of the residence roughly 3 to 5 feet from the front of the property line of the residence. PO spoke to Clifford asking him if he knew the restriction of his CPO, he advised that he was not allowed on the property, or within 75 feet of Susan. Clifford left with his daughter, and her infant daughter who came out of the residence to Clifford. On November 8th 2023 at 3:00 PM police made contact with Cristen at 1350 Sweitzer Street, Speedway, asking her if she informed Clifford that Susan was not home at the time. Cristen stated that she did not tell Clifford that Susan was not home at the time PO saw him, but did inform PO that Clifford knows Susan’s work schedule and that she would not have been home when he came by. On November 8th 2023 at 3:59 PM, PO spoke with Susan at GPD 122 West Main Street. Susan informed PO that she did not want to press charges on Clifford for violating the CPO, she just wanted him warned and know that he can not be with in 75 yards of her residence at 519 Southbrook Drive. Susan did complete a witness statement and put in her statement that she did not want charges. Susan also completed a victim’s rights form which will be added to this report. PO spoke with the City prosecutor who advised that if the victim did not want to proceed with charges then we would not file any charges at this time. PO has been unable to make contact with Clifford to warn him that he is not allowed to be driving down the street within 75 yards of the residence.

Identity Theft

On November 10th, 2023 at approximately 10:28 AM police was dispatched to 310 Marion Drive in reference to a theft not in progress. PO made contact with Sheila Bradburn. Sheila advised she received a call from Affirm, a credit card company. Sheila stated Affirm advised her she had a credit card opened in her name and that she was late on a payment. Sheila stated she advised Affirm she did not open the card. Affirm advised her the card had been used to buy a cricket cell phone. Affirm advised Sheila to file a Police report. Sheila advised she called the Police Department after speaking to Affirm. PO asked Sheila how much affirm claimed she owed them, where the phone was bought, the location of the purchase and when the phone was purchased. Sheila advised she did not have that information. Sheila called Affirm in PO’s presence. Sheila attempted to gather the information PO requested from Affirm. Affirm refused to disclose any information regarding the purchase. PO attempted to speak to Affirm and they refused to disclose any information with PO as well. After speaking to Affirm, PO collected a statement and victims rights form from Sheila. PO advised Sheila to contact the Greenville Police Department if Affirm reaches out to her with any further information.

Menacing

On November 10, 2023 at approximately 4:47 PM police responded to a harassment complaint at 323 West Water Street. PO made contact with the complainant, Micah Shakro, and Jeromy Johnson at the listed address. Jeromy stated that while he was pulling up to the front of his house, Charles Newberry and Jaden Johnson, were standing in front of a vehicle approximately 10 yards down the street. Jeromy stated that Charles called him a “wife beater”, and Charles & Jaden began walking towards Jeromy’s car, telling him to “step out of your car pussy”, as well as calling him a “bitch”. Jeromy stated that he believed both subjects were attempting to fight him, and that he was scared for his family’s safety because of their behavior. Jeromy stated that Micah then came out of the house and stated that she was going to call the police, and that is when Charles and Jaden went back to 331 West Water Street. PO also spoke to Micah. Micah stated that she was standing at the front door while Jeromy was pulling up. Micah stated that Charles and Jaden began calling Jeromy a wife beater, and began approaching Jeromy’s car, “trying to fight Jeromy”. Micah was able to take a picture. Micah and Jeromy filled out written statements. Jeremy also filled out a victims rights form. Micah and Jeromy also stated that this is not the first time something like this has happened. PO then spoke to Charles and Jaden. Charles stated that they were trying to sell Jaden’s car when Jeromy arrived home. Charles stated that he then called Jeremy a wife beater, and stated that “I guess he didn’t like the name I gave him.” Charles and Jaden stated that Jeromy was yelling at them, but could not give specifics as to what he was saying. Neither subject wanted to fill out a statement. Charles and Jaden were issued citations for Disorderly Conduct and advised of their court dates. Both subjects were also warned for trespassing at 323 West Water Street.

Welfare Check/Wanted Person

On November 11th, 2023 at approximately 2:05 PM police was dispatched to 524 Gray Avenue in reference to a Welfare Check on a one year old child. Upon arrival police made contact with Carrie Swink. Dispatch advised Carrie had a warrant through Greenville for failure to appear for a driving under suspension sentencing. Carrie was placed in handcuffs and placed in the back seat of the cruiser. After placing Carrie in the cruiser, other POs advised that the child checked okay. The residence did appear to be clean. The child did have food and water. Carrie was transported to the Darke County Jail and was released to the Jail staff.

Domestic Violence

On November 11, 2023 at approximately 6:07 PM police responded to 234 Central Avenue reference a domestic dispute between Amy Hughes and Darnell Hicks who both reside together at the residence. PO made contact with both subjects. Darnell advised he believed Amy took his debit card but had no proof. Amy advised that Darnell had been drinking and would not leave her alone. Neither party had any injuries. Both parties are staying together at the residence. BCI only. No school age children present.

Domestic Violence

On November 11th, 2023, at approximately 8:28 PM police was dispatched to 746 Gardenwood Drive. This was in reference to a domestic violence complaint. The complainant advised that her boyfriend was drinking and they were arguing. PO arrived to the residence and met the complainant, Natasha Kenworthy, outside. She advised that her boyfriend, Devin Mize, had been drinking and they were arguing. PO arrived inside and spoke to Devin who advised that there was an argument but he was willing to leave. Natasha already advised she was leaving with the children. Devin and Natasha reside together and have two children together, a 3 year old and a 3 month old. Natasha also has a daughter who is 11 years old who was present during the argument. Natasha left with the children, BCI only.

Domestic Violence

On November 11, 2023 at approximately 9:35 PM police was dispatched to 220 Rhoades Avenue in reference to an instance of domestic violence not in progress. PO observed the victim; Patsy Hart standing outside in the driveway of the residence. As PO started to approach Patsy the defendant; Bretten Cheadle exited the residence from the rear of the residence. PO made contact with Bretten who stated that he had gotten into an argument with Patsy over her deleting videos that he created for work from her phone. Bretten stated that there had been no physical contact being made with Patsy. Another PO spoke with Patsy while PO was speaking with Bretten. Patsy told PO as she was sitting in a chair located in the living room of the residence, Bretten exited the bathroom from taking a shower and found her deleting pictures from her phone. At which point an argument started and Bretten struck her several times with a closed fist in her left arm. Patsy then got up and made her way to a chair located in the kitchen where Bretten began choking her which resulted in her losing consciousness and falling to the floor for an undetermined amount of time. As a result of losing consciousness, Patsy struck the rear of her head that resulted in her developing a knot on the back of her head. When Patsy regained consciousness Bretten was standing next to her continuing to yell at her. Patsy and Bretten are in a romantic relationship, reside together, and share a child together. Patsy had red marks around her throat, a knot on the back of her head, as well as bruising on her left arm. Patsy was treated on scene by Greenville Rescue for her injuries. Pictures were taken of Patsy’s injuries. Patsy completed a written statement form and a victims rights form. When dispatch performed a CCH (Computerized Criminal History) on Bretten it was found that he had been convicted of Aggravated Assault in April 2023. Due to Patsy’s account and her injuries Bretten was arrested and placed into handcuffs. Bretten was searched incident to arrest with no contraband being located. Bretten was transported to the Darke County Jail and released to jail staff.
