Clarence W. Barhorst, 94, beloved husband of the late Rita H. Barhorst for 69 years, devoted father of Kathleen (late Robert) Schaffer, the late Greg (Mary) Barhorst, Phil (Anne) Barhorst, Steve (Dana) Barhorst, Garry Barhorst, Susan (late Thomas) Klump. Proud grandfather of 14, great grandfather of 35, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at his home.
Preceded in death by his parents Anna (Kuether) & Julius Barhorst; siblings Sister Julianna Barhorst, SC; Walter Barhorst & Harold Barhorst, Georgianna Barhorst; nephew Doug Barhorst; niece Cynthia Barhorst.
Survived by sisters-in-law June Barhorst & Thelma Barhorst.
Clarence was the Salutatorian of the class of 1948 of Holy Angels High School, Sidney, Ohio. He was a self-employed dairy farmer for 43 years; retired from Greenville Dairy Queen after 24 years of service. His legacy includes his profound disciplined work ethic.
He’ll be remembered for his humor, generosity & faithfulness. Clarence was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville, the Knights of Columbus & the St. Gaspar del Buffalo General Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, having recently been awarded Class Honoree distinction for his many years of service to the Fourth Degree. He was proud to have served. Clarence & his “bride” enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday May 24, 2024, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third Street Greenville, Ohio with Father Matt Feist as celebrant. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM in the Graceland Cemetery Sidney, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home 1499 N. Broadway Greenville, Ohio. Prayers will be recited on Thursday at 4:00 PM in the funeral home.
