NOVEMBER 1, 1944 – MAY 29, 2024
Donald O. Rieman, 79 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at EverHeart Hospice Care Center. Donald was born November 1, 1944 in Leipsec, Ohio, the son of the late Leo and Kathryn (Schroeder) Rieman.
Don served his country honorably in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer in Vietnam from 1967 until 1969; following the service, he worked as a farmer holding positions with DeKalb and as a Chemist at BASF.
Don was a 1962 graduate of Leipsec High School, and a 1966 graduate of The Ohio State University. Don was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus # 1796, the Greenville American Legion Post # 140, the Greenville VFW # 7262, and the Greenville Elks # 1139. Don was an avid sports fan who loved the Ohio State Buckeyes over all other teams.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, SR. Lisa Rieman; his brother in law, Joe Ruen; and his sister in law, Janet Hunt.
Don is survived by his wife Marsha (Hunt) Rieman of Greenville whom he married August 10, 1974, his sons and daughters in law, Doug and Allison Rieman of Arcanum, Nick and Marisa Rieman of Westerville, and Mike and Amanda Rieman of Greenville; his grandchildren, Ethan, Carley, Evan, Chloe, Cooper, Vinny, Lila, and Cora; his brothers and sisters in law, Steve and Carol Rieman, Joe and Cindy Rieman; his sister, Dorothy Ruen; his in laws, Jane Hunt and spouse Connie Christian, Jim Hunt, and Dave Hunt and spouse Lori Hunt; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 West Third Street, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Matt Feist Celebrant. Burial will follow in St, Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday June 4, 2024 and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. The Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary on Tuesday at 7:45 PM at the funeral home. Veteran’s graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus # 1796 or to the donor’s choice.
