On June 1, 2024, Greenville Senior High School proudly hosted its 150th Annual Commencement ceremony, a momentous occasion commemorating the achievements of the graduating Class of 2024.
The gymnasium overflowed with excitement and anticipation as families and friends eagerly awaited the grand procession of the Class of 2024.
Led by Sierra Brumbaugh’s stirring rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner and a heartfelt invocation delivered by Pastor Nick Good, the atmosphere was charged with emotion and pride.
Welcoming the graduates and guests, Superintendent Douglas Fries set the tone for the ceremony with words of encouragement and admiration for the accomplished seniors. Following suit, Board of Education President Brad Gettinger addressed the graduates and guests
After the Honorary Recognition by Principal Stan Hughes, the commencement address was delivered with poise and insight by Valedictorian Erin Leensvaart and Salutatorian Cali Harter, whose speeches resonated with wisdom and optimism, reflecting on cherished memories and imparting invaluable life lessons to their peers.
The ambiance was further enriched by a soul-stirring performance from the Vocal Music Department, whose choral melodies added a touch of artistry and beauty to the proceedings. As the diplomas were presented to the 193 graduates, the culmination of years of hard work and dedication was met with exuberant cheers and applause.
Two exchange students were awarded Certificates of Attendance.
Concluding the ceremony, Pastor Nick Good delivered a heartfelt benediction, offering blessings of prosperity and fulfillment to the graduating class as they embarked on their respective journeys. Class President Jayden Hicks then led the symbolic turning of the tassel, signifying the transition from students to alumni and marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
The 150th Annual Commencement of Greenville Senior High School was not merely a celebration of academic achievement but a testament to the resilience, determination, and spirit of unity that define the Class of 2024.
