Jerry L. Batten Sr. age 83, of Ansonia passed away at 4:19 pm Thursday, June 6, 2024, at his residence.
Jerry was born October 19, 1940, in Dayton to the late Daniel & Lucy (Goodpaster) Batten Sr. In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by his brothers, John Batten and Danny Batten; and step daughter, Tracy Bashore.
Jerry is survived by his children, Joe & Denise Bashore of Georgia, Doug & Tracy Bashore of Georgia, Anita Best of Ansonia, Jerry L. Batten Jr. of Versailles, Chris Batten of Versailles and Janie & Randy Hart of Versailles; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beverly Batten of Greenville and Linda Batten of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Ansonia High School. He retired from Cadillac Gage in Greenville. Jerry was a former member of the Ansonia American Legion and Darke County Coon Hunters Association. Jerry was a lifelong coon hunter, trapper and horseman. Jerry’s passion was raising walker dogs and loved Appaloosa horses.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 14, 2024, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home with Chaplain Jacque Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Food and fellowship to follow after the burial at Thwaits Bar in Ansonia.
