Blood Donors needed to reverse Midsummer Slump in supply

DAYTON, Ohio – Solvita needs more blood donors to help rescue the blood supply from a midsummer slump. Type O blood is in persistently low supply and there is currently a critical shortage of type B blood. Solvita is struggling to fill open appointments for the remainder of July.

Solvita is reminding donors that July 22-26 is the final week to receive a $15 e-gift card by registering to donate at the Solvita Dayton Center, 349 S. Main St. The e-gift card is redeemable online at Amazon or Kroger. Registered donors also receive the Solvita “From One to Many” beach towel.

Walk-ins are welcome at the Solvita Dayton Center, or schedule an appointment to donate on the Donor Time app, by calling (937) 461-3220, or at www.donortime.com .

“Our collections are low because many donors are enjoying summer, taking well-deserved vacations, and spending valuable time with family before back-to-school begins,” said Solvita Vice President for Donor Services Tracy Morgan.

“We ask that you take the time to donate blood so you can help us through this challenging time of year and give more opportunity, more adventure, more life to someone in desperate need.”

Everyone who registers to donate at any Solvita blood drive or the Solvita Dayton Center in July and August will receive the Solvita beach towel and will be automatically entered in the drawing for two tickets to Taylor Swift’s Nov. 3 show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

You can save time while helping save lives by using “DonorXPress” to complete the donor questionnaire before arriving at a blood drive. Find DonorXPress on the Donor Time App or at www.solvita.org/donorxpress.
