The Annie Oakley Festival 2024: A Celebration of Tradition and Talent

The Annie Oakley Festival, an annual highlight in Darke County once again delighted both participants and spectators with its vibrant lineup of events. The festival proved to be a resounding success, celebrating the rich legacy of the legendary sharpshooter, Annie Oakley.

At the heart of the festival was the eagerly anticipated shooting competition, where ten skilled young girls took to the range with precision and determination. After a series of challenging rounds, the competition narrowed down to five finalists, each demonstrating remarkable prowess. Ultimately, Lauren Wright emerged as the standout competitor, securing the prestigious title of “Miss Annie Oakley” with her exceptional shooting skills. Her performance was met with enthusiastic applause and admiration from the crowd.

The competition also saw notable performances from Samantha Beyersdorff and the 12-year-old Ruby Delk, who were honored as the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively.

The festival also celebrated the crowning of Little Miss Annie Oakley and Little Mister Buffalo Bill. Naomi Perry, who earned the title of Little Miss Annie Oakley, and Leo Duke, named Little Mister Buffalo Bill.

The Annie Oakley Festival is much more than a showcase of shooting skills. This year’s event featured an impressive array of activities and attractions that catered to a wide range of interests: National Fast Draw Competition, Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association Demonstration, Annie’s Memorial Shoot, Live Music, a Car Show, a small dog race & costume contest and much more.

The Annie Oakley Festival continues to be a beloved tradition, celebrating the legacy of one of America’s most iconic figures. With its blend of competition, entertainment, and community spirit, the festival remains a testament to the enduring appeal of the Wild West and the remarkable achievements of those who keep its traditions alive.
