Theft (not in progress)

On July 30th, 2024, police was dispatched to 695 Wagner Ave (Rural King) in reference to a possible attempted theft. PO made contact with the complainant/employee Helen Hudson. Hudson stated a customer came up to her and told her a couple of guys were leaning over a Husqvarna lawnmower and the customer heard a grinding noise. Hudson said she believed the customer must have scared them off. Hudson observed the cut lawnmower and showed PO. PO observed a black metal shield appeared to have been cut by an unknown tool in an attempt to bypass the security wires. Hudson gave a written witness statement that will be attached to this report. Store manager, Nicole Fisher, came into the store and was able to show PO video footage of the events. PO observed two unknown males, one bald and another wearing what appeared to be a straw hat and have a white beard, walking towards the lawn mowers, located at the front of the store. The bald male was on the phone and the other was actively looking at the lawnmowers. Both males walked the row of lawnmowers and followed what appeared to be the security line all the way down the building. They both walked back to the lawnmower that was found to be damaged. The male wearing the hat appeared to pull something out of his pants and began to cut the lawnmower. The two males soon exited the area, leaving in a dark colored SUV that was pulling a trailer. The listed price for the lawnmower was $3499.00 but it is unclear what damage was done to the piece that was cut. Fisher advised she would keep PO informed on costs to fix. Fisher was unable to provide footage of the incident and advised corporate would send it via email. A picture of the subjects was placed into the log in an attempt to identify them. Pictures were obtained of the damage and will be attached to this report. Fisher filled out a victim’s rights form as well as e-mailed PO pictures of the suspects.

Theft (not in progress)

On August 01, 2024, at approximately 2:11 PM police responded to 1110 Sweitzer Street (Lefeld’ s welding supply) in reference to a possible theft that had occurred. PO spoke to Jeff Knicks who is a manager at Lefeld’s who stated on 06/18/24 Keaston Jones rented equipment and was supposed to have it returned within a week. On July 18, 2024, another PO was able to make contact with Keaston via telephone where he advised Keaston that he had 48 hours to return it (July, 20, 2024). On August 01, 2024, is when Jeff called and stated Keaston still had not return the equipment rented and had lost contact with Keaston. PO was able to contact Keaston via phone where PO told him it had to be returned on July 02, 2024, at approximately 10:00 AM and Keaston stated he would have the equipment back by then. On August 02, 2024, at approximately 8:20 AM PO received a call from Keaston where he advised he had truck problems and wouldn’t make until 11:30 AM at the latest, PO advised Keaston if was not back by 11:30AM we would go through with charges for theft. At approximately 11:26 AM PO received a call from Jeff who stated the equipment was returned. Jeff did fill out a written statement that will be attached to this report. Nothing further.

CPO Violation

On August 2nd, 2024, at approximately 10:47 AM police was dispatched to 323 West Water Street in reference to a CPO violation. PO spoke with Jeromy Johnson who informed PO that Jaden Johnson, who he has a protection order against, has been staying at 331 West Water Street which is two houses down. The protection order was filed on July 3rd, 2024, and is effective until 6/24/25. Jeromy stated that he saw Jaden park his vehicle in-front of 331 West Water Street, then enter the residence. 331 West Water Street is within 75 feet from Jeromy’s residence. PO then went to 331 West Water Street and contacted Jaden. Jaden stated that he was told by a “guy judge” he was allowed to be at 331 West Water Street. PO advised Jaden that he was within the 75-foot distance that is stated in the protection. Due to changes of the protection order, no charges have been filed at this time. PO will follow-up with the prosecutor reference this incident. Jeromy completed a witness statement and victim’s right form; both will be added to this report.

Wanted Person

On August 3rd, 2024 at approximately 5:24 AM PO apprehended a known wanted person at the intersection of Plum St and E Fifth St. While on duty during the above date and time PO was near the intersection of Plum St and E Fifth St when PO observed Steven Karnehm walking on foot. PO was able to identify Steven due to previous interactions and was aware of him having an active warrant. PO made contact with Steven and advised him to not move and that he was being detained. PO then placed him in handcuffs. Dispatch confirmed through LEADS/NCIC that the warrant was active through Mercer County Sheriff’s Office for contempt of court original charge of Trespass with a pickup of any place in Ohio. Steven was placed into the back seat of the cruiser and transported to the Darke County Jail where he was released to the jail staff.

CPO Violation

On August 3rd, 2024 at approximately 9:38 PM police was dispatched to 323 W Water St in reference to a possible protection order violation. PO spoke to Jeromy Johnson in regards to Jaden Johnson violating the protection order. The protection order shows Jeromy to be a protected person against Jaden, the order was placed into effect on July 3rd, 2024 and is effective until June 24, 2025. Jeromy stated that on the above date around 8:40 PM Jaden was driving down W Water St. Jeromy stated that when Jaden got in line with his house he revved his engine up causing an annoyance to him, Micha Shakro and their baby. Jeromy also stated that ever since Jaden has been back living on Water St they have had more problems again. PO was able to get video showing Jaden revving his vehicle before coming to a stop. PO advised Jeromy and Micha PO will take a report and the video to the prosecutor to see if it’s enough evidence for a charge. PO advised them that once he hears back from the prosecutor he will follow up with them to advise them of the situation, and have them complete the necessary paperwork
