Forgery

On August 6, 2024 at 3:05 PM police was dispatched to Dave Knapp Ford, 500 Wagner Avenue, Greenville, Ohio, in reference to a theft complaint. PO met with Erica Greer, office manager. Greer stated on August 6, 2024, she was in the process of reconciling Dave Knapp Ford’s Park National Bank account statement when she noticed a suspicious transaction involving a Dave Knapp Ford company bank check. Greer was initially alerted due to the check number on the involved company bank check was extremely out of sequence with the other company bank checks. Greer proceeded to obtain a copy of the suspicious bank check and upon further inspection found the suspicious bank check had been manufactured utilizing information found on Dave Knapp Ford’s company bank checks and without the consent of Dave Knapp Ford. Greer provided a copy of suspicious bank check number 901201, dated 07/25/2024, made pay to the order of Kacey Henry for $4,000.52. ‘Casual Labor’ is written on the memo line and a signature is present on the payment authorization line of the check, in which, Greer identified her signature as being present on the payment authorization line. Greer further stated she does have authorization to issue company bank checks at Dave Knapp Ford. On the back of the suspicious bank check, an illegible signature and’ For Mobile Deposit at Chase’ is present in the endorsement area of the check. ‘For Deposit Only – JPMC’, ‘0920150452’ and ‘2024-07-25’ is printed in a typed format on the back of the check. According to Greer, Dave Knapp Ford has never issued a company bank check to Kacey Henry, Kacey Henry has never worked for Dave Knapp Ford and a $4,000.52 check was not issued on 07/25/2024. Upon PO’s request, Greer provided a copy of a current, genuine Dave Knapp Ford company bank check for comparison purposes. The genuine check provided by Greer is company bank check number 145078 which, as previously indicated by Greer, illustrates suspicious bank check number 901201 was extremely out of sequence as compared to the legitimate checks. Greer voluntarily provided a written witness statement and completed an Ohio victim’s rights form on behalf of Dave Knapp Ford. Greer has contacted Park National Bank and is in the process of requesting reimbursement from Park National Bank, thus it is possible, Park National Bank will become the monetary victim in this incident.
