David Miller

David Lee Miller age 79, of Versailles passed away Friday, August 23, 2024, at West Chester Hospital in West Chester.

David Was born February 17, 1945, in Greenville to the late Richard L. & Margaret (Baltes) Miller. In addition to his parents, David is also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Susan Hucker.

David is survived by the love of his life, Kathy (Schwartz) Miller whom he married January 25, 1969; sons & daughters-in-law, Eric & Cindy Miller of Versailles & their children: Logan & Sarah Miller, Aiva Miller & Joel Perrault, Patrick Miller, Evelyn Miller and Conall Miller; Michael & Jennifer Miller of Piqua & their children: Caleb Miller, Jordan Miller, Jonathan Miller, Cade Miller & step granddaughter, Ava Stoltz; brother & sister-in-law, Richard L. & Mae Miller of Beavercreek; sisters & brothers-in-law, Janet & Dave Raspet of California, Judy Benkert of Troy and Julie & Tony Hilgefort of Michigan; in-laws, Patrick & Barbara Schwartz of Salt Lake City, Utah, Coleen Schwartz of Provo, Utah, Donna Schwartz of Colorado, Diane & Collin Campbell of Colorado, and Larry Hucker of McCartyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was a 1963 graduate of Versailles High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. David retired from DP & L after 46 years of service where he was a design engineer. He started Precision Fab Products Inc. in 1981. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Versailles V.F.W. Post 3849, Versailles American Legion Post 435, Versailles Lions Club and Versailles Eagles. David enjoyed Tuesday night poker club, anything military, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.

After returning home from Vietnam, Dave developed a profound love for everything military, organizing groups of military vehicles for many local parades. They have become known as the Freedom Riders. He never felt worthy of coming home when so many of his friends did not. He adored his grandchildren and they him. You couldn’t ask for a better husband, father, grandfather or friend. We were truly blessed to have him in our lives for 55 years.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, August 30, 2024, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown celebrant. A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Versailles V.F.W. Hall Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Versailles V.F.W. Post 3849 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Following David’s loving and giving ways, he donated his body to Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.
