Lori Rammel

June 26, 1963 – September 29, 2024

Lorelei E. “Lori” Rammel, age 61, of Sebastian, FL, and formerly of Arcanum, OH, unexpectedly passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Sebastian, FL.  She was born June 26, 1963, in Greenville, to the late James & Reva (Foreman) Poling.  On April 16, 1994, she married her husband, Andy Rammel.  Andy and Lori were married for just over 30 years, and Andy survives in Sebastian, FL.  Lori is also survived by two children: Hannah Rammel & fiancé Nick Mayo of Ansonia, and Paul Rammel & Brecca Hawkins of Boca Raton, FL., two brothers and their wives: Monte & Vivian Poling of Union City, IN, and Robin & Becky Poling of Corning. Other surviving family members include her father and mother-in-law, Jack & Linda Rammel of St. Henry, and in-laws: John Rammel and Sally & Tim Braun all of St. Henry, Bruce & Bev Rammel of Sebastian, FL, Nancy & Jim Weir of Dayton, Tom & Amanda Rammel of Muncie, IN, and Maggie & Ken Hartings of Ft. Recovery, and many loved nieces and nephews.  Lori’s family would also like to recognize a special “mom” to Lori, Jo Anne Burns of Ansonia, as well as her two very special friends Kathy Burns and Tia O’Brien, and her beloved feline pets, Mama and George.

In addition to her parents, Lori is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Shawn Rammel, and a “second dad” to Lori, Gerald Burns.

Lori was an active member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Dayton until her and Andy moved and became members of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian, FL.  Lori had a passion for helping people and dedicated her life as a firefighter and paramedic.  She began working at the Dayton Fire Department, and then worked at Trotwood Fire and Rescue full time and volunteered with the Arcanum Fire Department as well.  Lori worked her way up and earned the rank of Lieutenant and retired from Trotwood Fire and Rescue after 16 years.  Lori was one who was often quiet and preferred to work behind the scenes, and she rarely took credit for what she did.  Lori loved to cook, and those who had her cooking could testify she was good at it too.  She and her family ran and operated the Hollansburg Chicken BBQ at The Great Darke County Fair for over 40 years.    Following her and Andy’s retirement they moved to Florida, and she began working for Indian River County Gun Range.  Lori was an “avid cruiser” and took many cruises with Andy and their family to see different parts of the world.  Lori and Andy were on a cruise the week before she passed and were able to cross Bermuda off their bucket lists.  Above all, Lori loved her family, and her kids were the light of her life.   She was so proud of Hannah and Paul and loved it when they could spend time together.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry.  Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in St. Henry Cemetery.  Friends may call 3 to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 9th, or 9 to 10 am on Thursday, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lori’s honor to The Wheelchair Foundation, or to the Northern Seminary Fund.  Condolences for the family may be expressed in person or may be left at hogenkampfh.com
