Schoolbus involved in 2-car injury crash – one person air-lifted

On November 11, 2024 at approximately 4:48 P.M. Darke County Deputies along with Greenville Fire, Greenville Township Fire, Greenville Township Rescue and CareFlight were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 121 and Children’s Home Bradford Road in reference to a two-vehicle injury accident.  

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 silver Honda, driven by Matthew Arron Dodd (22) of Piqua, Ohio was traveling east on Children’s Home Bradford Road and failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection of State Route 121. Dodd struck a southbound 2017 yellow school bus, driven by Mary Emrick (63) of New Madison.  

Dodd was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Dodd’s passenger, Katie Meyer (18) of Piqua was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital. Ms. Emrick was transported to Wayne Healthcare for minor injuries.  There were no children on the school bus. Meyer’s condition is unknown at this time. 

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
