On November 16, 2024 at approximately 3:14 a.m. Darke County Deputies attempted to stop a black 2000 Harley Davidson for a moving violation near the intersection of Oliver Road and U.S. 127. Prior to the violation the operator appeared to be struggling keeping the bike straight. The operator of the Harley fled the traffic stop and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit traveled east on Oliver Road to State Route 121. The pursuit then went south on Arcanum-Bears Mill Road and into the cemetery and continued into several harvested fields. The operator continued southeast and eventually crossing over Horner Road and into another field. The operator slid in the mud and was then taken into custody.
The operator was identified as Eric Haines (29) of Versailles, Ohio 45380.
Eric was taken to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office Jail under the following charges;
- Failure to comply (Misdemeanor 1)
- Possession of drugs (Felony 3)
- Fictitious license plates (Misdemeanor 4)
- Driving under suspension (Misdemeanor 1)
