Mary Jo Nixon

September 8, 1937 – November 18, 2024

Mary Jo Nixon (Haworth), age 87 years of Bradford, Ohio passed away peacefully at 1:32 AM on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Hospice of Miami County, Troy, Ohio. Born in Pitsburg, Ohio on September 8, 1937 she was a daughter to the late Joe & Mary Frances Haworth. Mary Jo was primarily a homemaker. She worked as a Secretary at Roark’s Furniture before she and her Husband, Robert Edward Nixon Jr. had their daughters. Mary Jo and Robert “Bob” were together for the last 60 wonderful years. They were married in June 1964.

Mary Jo is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her Brother, Ronald Haworth, Sister Georganna Price; Brothers-in-Law, Lowell Price and Gary Weaver Sr.; and Nephews, Donnie Price, Greg Price and Jim Price.

Mary Jo leaves is survived by her loving Husband, Sister, Sue Weaver, and her Daughters, Jacqueline (Jeff) Hazelwood and Michelle Nixon (Doug Moore). She also leaves behind her Grandchildren, Kam Hazelwood (Kayla Abner), Madison Hazelwood, Maude Moore, and Benji Moore, and one Great Grandchild, Rowan Hazelwood. Mary Jo will be missed by multiple Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews and many other family members. Family was very important to Mary Jo, and she would always make effort to spend time with those she loved. She would attend her family’s sporting events and music performances. It brought her so much joy.

Mary Jo was a graduate of Monroe High school in 1955. She was a member of Webster United Methodist Church since 1968. During her time there, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was active in the United Methodist Women’s group. She was a 4-H advisor for 10 years. She was a huge fan of anything Versailles Athletics. Often listening to football and basketball games on her radio.

Friends may call on the family from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Rev. Terry Haworth presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles, Ohio. Fond memories may be shared at www.baileyzechar.com for the Nixon family.
