Robert Ray Preston, 82 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2024 at The Village Green nursing home, Greenville, Ohio. Robert was born July 31, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Robert and Josephine (Kesser) Preston.
Ray is a Graduate of Arcanum High School, and was quite the basketball player in his time there. He is the past president of the OGCA and has been a member almost all of his life. Ray is an outdoorsmen and could often be found hunting and fishing in his free time. He is also an Avid gun collector, he has many old and impressive guns, his favorite are his Winchester rifles and shotguns. He loved to watch old westerns and spend time with his adoring wife of over 60 years, Carol (Smith) Preston. The two eloped on April 7th, 1962, they built a life together and have been side by side ever since. Ray will be will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his Brother, Larry Preston, his Daughter, Nancy Blankenship, and his Granddaughter, Macie Preston.
Ray is survived by his loving Wife, Carol, his Brother, Richard Preston, and Children, Michael Preston, Brian Preston, and Mark Preston. Also by his Grandchildren, Alex Preston, Rachel Johnson, Andrew Ross, Emily Ross, David Blankenship, Samantha Thwaits, Cody Preston, Jordan Preston, Sara Preston, Sidney Preston, Kelsie Preston, Lily Preston, and Madison Preston. Ray leaves behind a long legacy of family, as well as numerous Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews and other family members.
The family will welcome friends to gather for a viewing on Monday, December 9, 2024 5 PM to 7 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio. A funeral service will take place the following day, Tuesday December 10, 2024 at 11 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home. A burial will follow at Ithaca Cemetery.
