Walter “Walt” W. Poetsch, Jr., age 79, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024.
He was born on December 10, 1945, in Copiague, New York, to the late Walter, Sr. and Marjorie (Krause) Poetsch.
Walt is survived by his children, Ryan (Johanna) Poetsch of Ewa Beach, Hawaiian Island, Molly (Dan) Pizzino of Westerville Ohio, and Maura Poetsch of Lewis Center, Ohio; his grandchildren, Cole, Chase, and Maverick Poetsch, Matthew, Jacob, Emma, and Dominic Pizzino, and Avery Poetsch; his bonus grandchildren, Jordan and Jaedyn Amaloto; his ex-wife and dear friend, Kathie Poetsch of Worthington, Ohio; his sister, Patricia (Art) Ferrell of Ocala, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Walt was a 1963 graduate of Medina High School in Medina, Ohio. He attended Defiance College, where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in business. Walt retired from Ludy Greenhouse in New Madison, where he worked for many years as a sales manager. Walt loved his grandchildren, and they always brought a smile to his face. He enjoyed spending time with them and watching them play sports. He enjoyed Although Darke County was “home, he looked forward to going to his home in Hernando, Florida each winter. Walt was an avid golfer and was a lifetime member of White Springs Golf Course in Greenville. Aside from golfing, Walt also enjoyed going fishing and hunting, and was a proud Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Brown’s fan.
A private family burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
