Victoria Martin, Professional Clinical Counselor and sole owner of Martin Counseling & Consultation was the speaker. She spoke on women’s mental health and their need to ‘do it all’. She encouraged everyone to take time to reset. Martin provided statistics where 1 in 5 women report mental health issues. More women suffer from anxiety which is the number one diagnosis. Over 36% of women are diagnosed with depression and 89% request leave of absence from work due to mental health issues. What can we do? Vickie suggests take care ourselves with massages, vacation, counseling, medication, grounding, meditation, mindfulness and exercise and something as simple as getting your hair done. Proper eating, setting boundaries by learning how to say ‘no’ and educating oneself on taking care of ourselves were other suggestions on improving mental health.
