On January 30, 2025 at approximately 1:12 a.m. a Darke County Deputy noticed a vehicle pull into a driveway in the 7300 block of Painter Creek Arcanum Road and shortly after the Deputy drove past the vehicle, it backed out of the driveway and started going the opposite direction of the Deputy. The Deputy noticed the vehicle turned off its lights and parked on the roadway. When the Deputy turned around and pulled up to the vehicle, the driver fled on foot. The Deputy was able to apprehend this subject a short time later without further incident.
A K-9 from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene and was deployed for an article search. During the article search, K-9 Bear located a bag of suspected methamphetamine and a bag of suspected cocaine. Additionally, Bear was able to locate the keys to the vehicle dropped by the subject during the foot pursuit. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located drug paraphernalia, and an open container of alcohol. Suspected cocaine was also located on the driver’s person.
The driver was identified as Jason Landis (45) of Versailles, Ohio and is being held in the Darke County Sheriff’s Office Jail under the following charges;
Possession of Methamphetamine – Felony 2
Possession of Cocaine – Felony 2
Tampering with evidence – Felony 3
Obstructing Official Business – Misdemeanor 2
OVI – Misdemeanor 1
