
Vehicle Theft
On February 21, 2025 at approximately 4:06 PM police responded to 122 West Main Street; Greenville Police Department, in reference to a vehicle theft. PO spoke with the complainant, Ali Saleh. Ali stated he was involved in an accident on 01-14-25 in Arcanum, Ohio. Ali advised after the accident, he parked the vehicle behind 1207 Sweitzer Street, which is owned by his Uncle, Kassem Obed, before going back to New York. Ali stated he came back to remove the license plates from the vehicle when he noticed the vehicle was gone. Ali stated he is unsure when the vehicle was taken, but advised his cousin observed the vehicle a few days prior. Ali advised he has contacted his brother, cousin, and uncle, all who have no knowledge of the vehicle whereabouts. The vehicle is a white Ford E-350 with New York license plate, 68105NE, with front end damage. It was learned the vehicle is registered to Ali’s brother, Tarek Saleh. PO advised Ali that Tarek would have to report the vehicle stolen due to it being registered under his name. Before speaking with Tarek, PO attempted to view video footage from Clark Oil gas station and McDonalds, who advised they were unable to view video footage until tomorrow morning around 6AM-1PM. PO viewed video footage at Hittle’scar dealership, but was unable to see when the vehicle was taken. PO spoke with Tarek over the phone due to him living in New York. Tarek stated he has contacted his family members and again advised none of them know the vehicle’s whereabouts. Tarek advised he has contacted both his insurance company and the other vehicle’s insurance company, both of which stated they have not had the vehicle towed. Dispatch called several local tow companies as well as a local scrapyard, all stated they have not seen the vehicle. A statement form and victim rights form was emailed to Tarek to complete and email back to PO. PO spoke with Tarek’s insurance company, Progressive, who stated they did not have any records of seizing the vehicle. The vehicle is entered into LEADS as a stolen vehicle at this time.
Wanted Person
On February 22nd, 2025 at approximately 10:19 AM PO was on routine patrol when he observed the listed vehicle traveling westbound on East Water Street. PO observed once the vehicle reached the intersection of East Water Street and South Broadway, it failed to stop behind the white stop bar for a steady red light. PO conducted a traffic stop for the above mention violation. PO made contact with the driver, Jamie Saylor, and her passenger, Leroy Crawford, and advised them of the reason for stopping them. PO ran Leroy through LEADS/NCIC and found that he had an active felony warrant for his arrest for a parole violation through Indiana Parole. PO went back up to the vehicle and advised Leroy to step out of the vehicle which he complied and was placed under arrest and in handcuffs. Leroy was searched incident to arrest and no contraband was located. Leroy’s warrant was confirmed by GPD dispatch. PO transported Leroy to the Darke County Jail where he was incarcerated for his warrant. The backseat of the police cruiser was checked prior to and after transport and no contraband was located.
DUI
On February 23rd, 2025, at approximately 12:21 AM police was dispatched to the area of North Gray Avenue and Armstrong Street, in reference to a vehicle that had hit a concrete barrier. PO located the driver of the vehicle/defendant in this case, Chanel E. Taylor. Chanel advised she was the person driving and immediately informed police without being asked that she had been drinking. PO could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her person and observed her speech to be very slurred. PO observed her car to have traveled off the roadway, up onto the sidewalk, and stuck up on top of a concrete retaining wall in front of 219 N Gray Avenue. Through the course of the investigation it was found that Chanel had left a party near North Broadway and drove to an address on Ash Street. From there, she drove south on Ash Street, striking a white Chevy Silverado and continued south on Ash Street. Chanel then traveled South on Montgomery Street, striking a red Chevy Colorado. Chanel left the scene of that accident after witnesses observed what had happened, and she traveled over to North Gray Avenue. Chanel was traveling southbound on North Gray Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle, traveling off the left side of the roadway, striking the concrete barrier in front of 219 North Gray Avenue. PO asked Chanel to submit to standard field sobriety testing, which she refused. PO placed Chanel under arrest for operating vehicle under the influence. PO read Chanel her Miranda Rights, which she stated she understood. Chanel was placed in handcuffs. A Sgt. stayed with her vehicle, a 2010 white Ford Fusion. Ace towing was called to the scene to remove the vehicle from the concrete barrier and to tow it. The Sgt. advised visible empty fireball bottle was located on the drivers side floorboard. Numerous other open containers were located as well. Contact information was gathered for the property owner at 219 N Gray Avenue and attached to the report. Chanel was brought back to the police department where she was shown and read the BMV2255. PO explained the penalties to Chanel and she advised she wanted to submit to the breath test. PO conducted a breath test on the Intoxilizer 8000. Chanel provided a BAC that came back at 0.252 g/210L of breath. This is over three times the legal limit of 0.08. PO took Chanel’s Ohio Drivers License and she was placed under an administrative license suspension. Photos of all damages were taken, as well as photos of all of the open containers in her vehicle, and attached to their respective reports. Chanel advised she did not have any insurance on the vehicle she was driving. She was issued a copy of her citations for OVI 4511.19Alh (Ml), OVI 4511. 19Ala ( Ml), reasonable control 4511. 202A (MM), her Intoxylizer results, and BMV2255 form. PO explained to Chanel what her court date and time was and she advised she understood. Amanda Jett was called to pick Chanel up from the Police Department and she was released to her care.
Wanted Person
On February 25th, 2025, at approximately 10:35 PM police observed a red 2005 Dodge 1500 bearing Ohio registration JHH9142 traveling west bound on East Fourth street. PO checked the vehicle’s registration through LEADS/NCIC and learned the registered owner’s driving privileges are under a non-compliance suspension from 06/10/2022 to indefinite. The registered owner of the vehicle, James Moore also has an active arrest warrant out of the City Of Greenville for failure to appear for a traffic offense. PO conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on East Fourth street near Grant Street. PO made contact with the driver who was James Moore. PO ordered James out of the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. PO placed James in the back seat of the cruiser. Dispatch confirmed James’s warrant through LEADS/NCIC. James was transported to the Darke County Jail. PO issued James a copy of his citation for Driving Under Suspension and advised him of his court date. James was released to jail staff. PO checked the backseat of the cruiser before and after the transport and located nothing.
