
Greenville, OH – The Young Careerist Committee of the Greenville Business & Professional Women’s Club (BPW) hosted the February 13th meeting which was held at Shawnee Prairie Nature Center on SR 502 in Greenville. The committee consisted of Chair Julie Hart and members Kathy O’Dell, Pegi Deeter, Linda Kendig and Stacy Sykes.
Macy Koon of “The Koon Homestead and Koon Homestead Kennels” was the speaker. In March 2020 Macy and husband Taylor broke ground for the kennel and they opened for business in October. In 2021 Macy completed dog trainer school to become a Certified Dog Trainer. They have 8 dog runs which she and her husband work a daily schedule to maintain this kennel. In 2022 her goal was to learn how to sew. Macy started with making dog bandanas and opened her boutique ‘Four Paws and Me Co’. They also worked on bringing back the ‘homestead’ and incorporated chickens, pigs, a milk cow and a beef steer. In 2024 their focus was brought to opening their farm store and providing goods to others. CSA spots were offered and they began a milk herd share program. The Greenville BPW Club’s mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information. The Club holds fundraisers through the year to raise money to grant scholarships to the young women of Darke County. They meet the second Thursday of every month for a dinner meeting.
