Students in Mrs. Bohman’s class had the exciting opportunity to learn about welding from guest speaker Mark Willis from Hobart Institute of Welding Technology. Willis shared his expertise, giving students insight into welding techniques, safety, and career opportunities in the field.
Before getting hands-on with real welding, students practiced their skills in a fun and creative way—using graham crackers and icing to simulate welding beads. This hands-on activity helped them understand proper technique and control before working with actual welding equipment.
The experience provided a great introduction to welding and reinforced the importance of precision and practice in the trade. A big thank you to Mark Willis for sharing information about Hobart, the many career paths that welding can offer, and his knowledge and inspiring future welders!
