Upon lab results, I will be submitting felony charges to the Darke County Prosecutor’s Office for felony drug possession charges. Charges pending lab results.
Wanted Person
On March 16th, 2025, at approximately 1715 hours I observed a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 bearing Ohio registration FTL3271 traveling west bound on Birt Street near Sweitzer Street. I checked the vehicle’s registration through LEADS/NCIC and learned the registered owner’s driving privileges are failure to reinstate. I also learned the registered owner has an active arrest warrant out of Miami County for failure to appear for an OVI. I conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Gregory Odell, who is the registered owner of the vehicle. Dispatch confirmed the warrant through LEADS/NCIC and Miami County Sheriff’s Office. I ordered Gregory out of his vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. The handcuffs were double locked and gap checked. I advised Gregory of his Miranda warning and completed a search incident to arrest of Gregory’s person, I located nothing. I placed Gregory in the back seat of my cruiser and asked dispatch to contact Miami County to see if they would do a prisoner exchange at the Darke/Miami County line. Dispatch advised me to meet Piqua Police Department at the Darke/Miami County line on US Route 36. P.0. Ward arrived on scene and was given Gregory’s permission to park his vehicle in the parking lot just north of County Line Road. I transported Gregory to the Darke/Miami County line road and he was released to Piqua Police Department. Gregory was issued a copy of his citation for Failure to Reinstate and was advised of his court date. The backseat of my cruiser was checked before and after the transport and I located nothing,
Theft (not in progress)
On March 16th, 2025, at approximately 2121 hours I was dispatched to 316 Wayne Avenue in reference to a theft not in progress. Upon arrival I made contact with Stephanie Lester. Stephanie stated she had purchased two black and gray five door mainstays dressers from Walmart. Stephanie stated she did see the dressers in her car when she left Walmart. Stephanie stated she had just returned home and took one of the dressers into her residence and when she walked out to get the second dresser she realized it was no longer in her vehicle. Stephanie stated she had only left the other dresser in her vehicle that was parked in the driveway behind her residence for approximately four minutes. Stephanie gave me the receipt that shows each dresser is worth $48.97. I asked Stephanie if she has any camera’s or if she of any neighbors that do. Stephanie stated she had already spoke to her neighbor directly to the north of her residence and he does not have cameras. Stephanie filled out a statement and victim’s rights form. After speaking to Stephanie, I checked several houses to the north and south of Stephanie’s residence and spoke to several of them. None of Stephanie’s neighbors on Wayne Avenue have cameras. I spoke to several neighbors directly behind Stephanie’s residence in the 200 block of Harrison Avenue and none of them have cameras either. No Leads at this time.
