Wanted Person
On March 2, 2026 at approximately 2231 hours, I responded to 1501 Wagner Avenue; Walmart, in the City of Greenville in reference to a shoplifting.
Upon my arrival, I made contact with Walmart Asset Protection ( AP) who advised two males were taking items from the automotive section. AP tracked these males through the store and stated that they had left the building past all points of sale. AP pointed these males out to officers outside. AP stated that a male, who would later be identified as Brandon McConnell, was the only one who stole items. AP stated that Brandon had stolen car charging brick and left the empty box inside the business. Upon making contact with Brandon and Josh Edwards, Brandon became extremely nervous and stated he did not steal anything. Brandon continued to refuse to identify and stated his ID was in the car.
Upon Brandon opening the passenger side car door, I observed Brandon throw a charging block into the vehicle and attempt to hide it. Brandon, who still refused to identify, was detained into handcuffs that were gap checked and double locked. Josh Edwards, as the registered owner of the vehicle, allowed officers to search the passenger seat where the charging block was recovered. Walmart AP advised they did not want Brandon charged for the theft but wanted him warned for trespass. Walmart AP recovered the stolen property.
Brandon eventually provided his SSN and stated he thought he had a warrant. Dispatch then confirmed Brandon to have a probation violation warrant on the original charge of dangerous drugs, through Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
Dispatch confirmed the warrant through LEADS/NCIC. I then transported Brandon to the Darke/Miami County line where he was released to the Miami County Sheriff”s Deputy Divens. The backseat of cruiser 1937 was checked before and after transport with nothing located.
