Disorderly Conduct
On April 9th, 2026, at approximately 1808 hours, I was dispatched to Greenville City Park, 700 East Harmon Drive, near the skate park in reference to a firearm being found.
The juvenile complainant advised he and 3 other juveniles found a backpack that was on one of the skate ramps unattended. The backpack contained a loaded handgun inside of the.
Upon my arrival, I located a black backpack with a Glock 45 with a fully loaded magazine inside of the firearm. No other items were located inside of the backpack, only the firearm. The juvenile complainant advised he touched the firearm then called the police after realizing it was real and not a toy. The firearm and backpack were transported to the Greenville Police Department and placed into property for safekeeping.
On April 9th at approximately 2247 hours, I received a call from Zachary Brown who called the police department about forgetting his gun in the park. Zachary advised that he had left his firearm at the skate park in a backpack. Zachary advised he had left the firearm and backpack at park on April 8th. I advised Zachary that he is not able to get the firearm back as this case is now under investigation and the firearm is evidence.
On April 10th, I made contact with Sara Williams, mother of the juveniles who were all present and located the firearm. Sara advised she wanted to press charges due to the risk of the children finding the firearm. Her son filled out a witness statement and Sara filled out a victim’s rights form on behalf of her son.
On April 14th, 2026, I made contact with Zachary asking him to come to the Greenville Police Department to receive a citation. At approximately 1806 hours, Zachary came to the police department advising he left the gun at approximately 1930 hours on April 8th.
Zachary was issued his copy of the citation for disorderly conduct due to Zachary recklessly causing alarm by leaving his firearm in the park and the risk of physical harm to persons. He was advised of his mandatory court date.
OVI
On April 11, 2026 at approximately 2104 hours I observed a white Ford bearing Ohio registration JMX1598 traveling north on Sweitzer Street in the City of Greenville. After checking the registration through LEADS/NCIC, I confirmed that the registration was expired as of 01/10/2026. I then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle on Pine Street near Sweitzer Street.
Upon initiating my overhead lights, this vehicle continued eastbound on Pine Street at the posted speed limit. After passing multiple areas to stop, the vehicle pulled over east of the Central Avenue intersection. I then made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who identified himself as Ronald Courtney Puckett JR. Ronald is also the registered owner of the vehicle. I introduced myself and advised Ronald that the reason for the traffic stop was in reference to his expired registration. I then asked Ronald to provide his license, registration and proof of insurance. Ronald handed me his license and became confused with looking for the other two items. Ronald then opened the glove box and grabbed an unrelated packet of papers. At this time, I noticed that Ronald’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy.
While Ronald continued to look for these items, I asked Ronald where he was coming from, to which he replied, “from my house. It’s on Eleventh Street.” Ronald began fumbling with the packet of papers and handed it to me. I quickly reviewed these papers and advised Ronald that this was not his registration.
While speaking with Ronald, he was slurring his speech and I could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from his breath. Ronald began searching for his registration and insurance again, this time accidentally activating his windshield wipers. Ronald quit searching for the requested items and attempted to turn off the wipers. Ronald began speaking to me about his job and forgot to turn off the wipers, and still had not provided the requested items. At this time, I noticed a large case of’Natty Light’ beer on the passenger floorboard.
I then confirmed with Ronald that he was coming from his house, to which he stated yes. I then asked Ronald where he was heading, to which he stated, “just home.” I then asked Ronald, “so you’re coming from home, headed home?”, to which he stated yes. I then verified again that Ronald lived on Eleventh Street in Greenville, to which he stated yes. I then advised Ronald that he was driving northbound on Sweitzer Street when I got behind him, to which he stated yes. I then advised Ronald that his story about his whereabouts did not make any sense in reference to our current location. Ronald then changed his story and advised me that he went to pick up McDonald’s, however, there was no food visible in the vehicle. Upon asking Ronald if he had been drinking tonight, he stated no.
Ronald then began searching for the requested documents again, until he became distracted by the windshield wipers again. Ronald decided to turn the vehicle completely off because he was unable to stop the wipers. Ronald then sat in silence and did not move for approximately 15 seconds until I again requested his registration and insurance. This time, he was able to provide his registration but never provided his insurance.
After checking Ronald through LEADS/NCIC, I returned to his vehicle and asked him to perform a complete series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. While slurring his words Ronald then asked me if there was any way I could let him walk home instead of him doing SFSTs. Ronald then began speaking unintelligible before he stated that he was already busted. I then told Ronald to step out of the vehicle. While doing so, he stumbled multiple times and almost fell down while stating that this will ruin his life. Ronald continued to ask if officers would allow him to walk home. Eventually, Ronald refused SFSTs.
Due to Ronald’s slurred speech, bloodshot and glassy eyes, slowed reaction time and the strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from his breath, Ronald was placed under arrest. Ronald was read his Miranda Rights, to which he stated he understood. Ronald was searched incident to arrest with nothing located. Ronald was then placed into the backseat of cruiser 1944 where he was read the BMV2255 form in the presence of P.O. Kreitzer. Ronald refused providing a chemical test. Due to Ronald’s chemical test refusal, he was advised that his driving privileges would be placed under a one-year administrative license suspension ( ALS). I then transported Ronald to the Greenville Police Department. While enroute to the police department, and while inside, Ronald admitted to being drunk, drinking multiple beers and having an alcohol problem.
While at the police department, Ronald was issued a citation for expired registration and OVI. Ronald was provided his copies of the citation, BMV2255 form and his breath test refusal. Ronald was advised that due to his refusal, his physical license was also being seized. Dispatch completed a CCH on Ronald which showed 3 prior OVI convictions withing the preceding 20 years. These convictions occurred in 2007, 2010 and 2024. Ronald then contacted a sober local friend who arrived at the police department, who he was released to. Ronald’s vehicle was towed by Saunder’s to their impound lot after an inventory search was completed on the vehicle. The backseat of cruiser 1944 was checked prior to and after transport.
Wanted Person
On April 14th, 2026, at approximately 1916 hours I was on patrol near the area of 5th Street and Broadway Street when I located Michael Bowles, who was known to have an arrest warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of disorderly conduct.
I made contact with Michael and advised him he had an arrest warrant. I advised him to turn around and put his hands behind his back and he complied. I placed him in handcuffs that were gap checked and double locked. SGT. Wolfe arrived on scene and began to advise him of his Miranda rights but interrupted him and before he was done and stated he understood. Michael was searched incident to arrest, and a plunger cap with a small piece of cotton was found in his left pocket and a capped hypodermic needle that appeared to be used, was found in his right pocket. He advised that he had used the needle earlier that day but then advised did not know who’s needle that was. When asked if he used meth he stated “yeah”. SGT. Wolfe observed what appeared to be blood inside of it.
He was placed in the back of my cruiser and transported to the Darke County Jail to be incarcerated for his warrant. The back of my cruiser was inspected before and after transport and no contraband was located.
Michael was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia and was given a copy of the citation and advised of his mandatory court date and time.
