April 8, 1933 – April 14, 2026
Elizabeth “Jean” Wolters, age 93, of Greenville, OH passed peacefully on April 14, 2026 with family nearby at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
Jean was born on April 8, 1933 in Covington, TN to the late Russell and Nell (Rose) Delashmit. Jean graduated from Brighton High School in Brighton, TN in 1951 and was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She met and then married Charles Ronald Wolters on October 16, 1952. With Ron’s employment, they lived and worked in several states before settling in Ron’s hometown of Greenville with their two children. They were married 71 years.
Jean’s work experience included a position of Office Manager at Batten’s Electric. As a young mother she saw a need in the community for a quality child care program and opened the Candy Cane Child Care Center and Pre-Kindergarten School in Greenville. Jean owned and operated the nursery school for 10 years. She then assisted in many business ventures of Wolters Enterprise.
Above all Jean was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with Ron, family and friends. She also enjoyed making guests and family feel welcome in her home. Her Christian faith was important to her as exemplified in her character. Jean was an encourager, peacemaker and a wonderful listener. She was kind, thoughtful and selfless. She had a sweet and gentle spirit, and the sweetest smile to go with it.
One of her greatest joys was hearing about and seeing all that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing. They always put a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes and a smile on her face.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Wolters, her brothers, B.E. Delashmit of Covington, TN., Donald Delashmit of Atlanta, GA., Carey Delashmit of MS.; her sisters, Virgina Ross of Millington, TN., and Ann Jordon of Memphis, TN.
Jean is survived by her son Dr. Bill (Debbie) Wolters of Germantown, TN and daughter Pam (Tom) Dickerson of Centerville, OH. Grandchildren-Dr. William (Jennifer) Wolters Jr., Amy (Forrest) Edwards, Dr. Winston (Madeline) Wolters, Curtis Dickerson, Alex (Audrey) Dickerson, Daniel (Chelsea) Dickerson, Samuel Dickerson, Chloe (Sam) Reynolds and 9 great grandchildren.
