
On May 22, 2026, at approximately 7:56 p.m., Darke County Deputies, along with Gettysburg Fire, Gettysburg Rescue, and Greenville Township Rescue, responded to the 6600 block of U.S. Route 36 for a two‑vehicle injury crash.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a blue Ford Fusion, driven by Jacob Hart, 35, of Gettysburg, with front‑seat passenger Ashley Mitchell, 33, also of Gettysburg, was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 36. A white Ford Maverick, driven by a 17‑year‑old male, traveled left of center and struck the Fusion head‑on.
The driver of the Fusion was mechanically extracted from the vehicle and transported to Miami Valley Hospital. The passenger was able to exit the vehicle on her own and was transported to Wayne Hospital. The driver of the Ford Maverick was also extracted and transported to Miami Valley Hospital.
Both drivers are currently listed in serious condition.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team assisted at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
