Thomas Mumaw, 80 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Friday May 22, 2026, at EverHeart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. Tom was born July 19, 1945, in Greenville, Ohio, the son of the late Fred and Stella (Baltes) Mumaw.
Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Subler Transfer for 10 years. He then worked for Harold J. Pohl Trucking for 1 year before moving to Bensman Welding for 15 years before retirement. Tom was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and the Versailles V.F.W. Tom was a social person who loved storytelling and telling jokes. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed drag races. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and giving candy bars to them whenever he could.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Ryan Thomas Mumaw. In addition, he was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses: LaDonna and Richard Fullenkamp, Sister Patricia Mumaw, and Dennis and Patricia Mumaw. Others who preceded him in death include: his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Elizabeth Spahr; his in laws, Phillip, Harold, Roger and Tom Spahr, and Janet Barlage.
Tom is survived by his wife Judy (Spahr) Mumaw, whom he married December 30, 1967; his sons and daughters in law, Brad and Jaclyn (Magoto) Mumaw, Ryan D. and Valerie (Moeder) Mumaw, and Scott Mumaw; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his in laws, Bill and Linda Spahr, Mary Takach, and Candice Spahr; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, May 28, 2026, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Versailles V.F.W..
