Patrick A. Onkst, age 55, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at his residence. Patrick was born on January 30, 1971, the son of Christopher and Linda (Knapke) Onkst.
Patrick was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Neva Onkst and Melvin Onkst; his maternal grandparents, Carl and Marie Knapke and his brother-in-law, Barney Rehmert.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sons; Alex (fiancé Lexi Allmandinger) Onkst and Maxwell Onkst; the boys’ mother, Kristen Valdez; his sister, Sandra Onkst-Rehmert; his best friend, Chad Baughman.
Patrick was a 1989 graduate of Greenville High School. He went on to pursue higher education by receiving a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1993, from Miami University and a master’s degree in public administration in 1998 from the University of Dayton. For a time, Patrick served as a volunteer firefighter in New Madison, Ohio and for 32 years he worked for Darke County Job and Family Services. He served on the FAME Board from 2008 until his passing. Patrick was a member of Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 143 where he was a past presiding officer in 2012. Patrick loved traveling with friends and spending time with his family. He enjoyed rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. His hobbies included going to trivia, woodworking and playing pool.
A Celebration of Life Service, to include The Masonic Lodge, will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM with burial will follow at The Greenville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends on the day of the funeral from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Patrick to the charity of the donor’s choosing.
