Ronald G. Scammahorn, age 79 of Bradford, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville. Ron was born on August 28, 1946, the son of the late Carl and Mildred (Williamson) Scammahorn.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Kay (Ashworth) Scammahorn; his children, Ronda Scammahorn, Adam Scammahorn and Aaron (Roseanne) Scammahorn; his sister, Karyl Lu Eubanks, numerous nieces and nephews; his special friends, Ron “Pete” Dietrich and Connie Harris as well as his fur grand-dogs, June Bug and CJ.
Ron was a 1964 graduate of Franklin Monroe High School. After high school he attended Clark Technical College. He worked at his family’s grain elevator and S & L Farm Service and farmed. After marrying Kay, Ron worked for Rodefeld’s Auto Parts in Greenville for 25 years and then for Troutwine’s in the parts department until his retirement in 2009. After retirement Ron stayed busy working for Mike Baker Midwest Auctioneers.
He was a 4H advisor for the Swine Koolers Club and an FFA Booster for Franklin Monroe, chaperoning 27 trips to the National FFA Convention. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Ron was a member of the Oakland Church of the Brethren. He took part in numerous Brethren Disaster Ministry trips, all the while encouraging others to go as well. He was quick to go where God called and he was needed.
There will be a Celebration of Ron’s Life held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at The Oakland Church of the Brethren, 8058 Horatio-Harris Creek Road, Bradford, Ohio, with the Oakland Ministry Team Officiating.
Family will receive friends on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to the Oakland Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund or Church of the Brethren Disaster Ministries.
