The Darke County Animal Shelter has 9 new dogs waiting for their fur-ever homes.
All dogs were given Bordatella, parvo/lepto/distemper vaccines, are dewormed and are heartworm negative. All dogs are microchipped.
The Shelter is located at 5066 County Home Rd. Greenville OH. 45331. The visiting hours are Monday- Friday 8am- 11:45am and 1pm- 4pm. You can reach the Shelter at 937-547-1645.
Brodie came to the shelter as a stray, We believe Brodie is around 4 years old and a Lab mix, and he is already neutered. This handsome boy came to us with a microchip, and although we were able to contact his registered owner, they chose not to reclaim him. Now Brodie is patiently waiting for someone new to walk through our doors and choose him. Brodie has shown us that he’s a pretty smart guy! He knows sit and shake, and if you happen to have a treat in your hand, you’ll definitely have his attention this boy loves his treats! Brodie also doesn’t seem to mind the other dogs here at the shelter. If you already have a dog at home, we recommend bringing them in for a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone gets along. Brodie may not understand why his old family didn’t come back for him, but we’re hoping he won’t have to wait long for someone new to walk through our doors and choose him. Sheba is a shy and fearful girl who needs time, patience, and lots of love to come out of her shell. She may not be the dog who runs right up to greet you, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want love she just needs someone willing to move at her pace and give her the time she needs to feel safe. Her ideal home would be calm, patient, and understanding, with someone who won’t expect too much from her too quickly. With Sheba, the little victories will mean everything—taking a treat from you, coming a little closer, giving a tail wag, or finally realizing she is safe. If you have a soft spot for the shy ones and are willing to give Sheba the patience, love, and chance she deserves, you could be the person who changes her whole world. Rex came to us as a stray, so we don’t know much about his past, but we believe he is around 5 years old and a Terrier mix. Rex is one smart boy! He already knows how to sit, especially when there’s a tasty treat involved and speaking of treats… Rex absolutely LOVES them! Rex also enjoys getting attention from his people and spending time outside. Whether he’s soaking up some love or enjoying the fresh air, Rex is happy to have someone spending time with him. He also doesn’t seem to mind the other dogs here at the shelter. As always, if you already have a dog at home, we recommend a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is comfortable and gets along. Ziku came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of his own. His previous owner was moving and unfortunately was unable to take Ziku with them. Now this sweet boy is hoping to find a new family and a place to call home. We’ve been told Ziku is a 6-year-old Basset Hound/Husky mix—and what a unique and adorable combination he is! According to his previous owner, Ziku is good with kids, cats, and other dogs. We were also told that he is housebroken and crate trained, giving him a great start as he settles into his new home. He would enjoys having fun and would love a family who will give him plenty of playtime, attention, and love. At 6 years old, Ziku still has lots of fun, love, and personality to share. Well… even Jumba couldn’t engineer perfection! What Stitch really needs is someone who will teach him that ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
