Jerry Lynn Brumbaugh, age 76, passed away on September 13, 2026, in Greenville, Ohio.
He was born on October 26, 1949, in Piqua, Ohio, to Ralph M. and Dorothy (Lavy) Brumbaugh. Jerry grew up with a deep appreciation for family, community, and the hometown values that shaped his life. He graduated from Newton High School with the Class of 1968 and remained proud throughout his life to be a Newton High School graduate and a native of Pleasant Hill.
Jerry retired from Southwest Ohio ENT Specialists, where he served as a licensed hearing aid specialist. In his work, he was known for his steady manner, his care for others, and the trust he built with those he served. He also shared his voice and enthusiasm as a former announcer at Newton High School basketball games, a role that reflected both his love of sports and his connection to the community he cherished.
A longtime member and former deacon and trustee of Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ, Jerry lived his faith through kindness, service, and fellowship. He drew energy and strength from being around others and found a true sense of community in the people and places he loved. He was friendly, thoughtful, and kind, and those qualities were evident to all who knew him. If Jerry shook your hand once, he was your friend for life.
Jerry was an avid Ohio State fan and also enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns. He passed that love of sports on to his family, and many cherished memories were made watching games together-even if it was over the phone. He especially loved supporting his grandchildren in their sports and events, taking great pride in their accomplishments and in the joy they brought to his life. He also enjoyed gardening and birdwatching, finding peace in the simple beauty of the world around him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Connie (Durham) Brumbaugh; his children, Erin and Caleb Funk of Waterville, Ohio, and Micah Brumbaugh of Ocala, Florida; his sister, Janet Kimmel of Rochester, Indiana; his grandchildren Lena, Aidan, Katy, Juliauna, Nicholas and Blake; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter Emma.
Jerry will be remembered for his warm spirit, his devotion to family, and the genuine way he connected with others. He loved spending time with those closest to him and treasured the life he built in the community he called home. His presence brought comfort, encouragement, and friendship to many, and his memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, September 17, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ.
