Merlin R. Booker

Merlin R. Booker, 96 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Sunday April 24, 2022.  Merlin was born July 16, 1925 in Phillipsburg, Ohio, the son of the late Harry Russell and Eleanor (Petering) Booker.  Merlin served his country in the United State Army Air Corp during World War II.  He was a farmer and retired from Fram Corp.

Merlin was a member of the Greenville American Legion Post # 140; he was an avid golfer, loved going to auctions, spending time in the woods cutting wood and especially loved playing with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Merlin is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marjorie Booker whom he married June 19, 1948; and his sister, Marcel Heck.

Merlin is survived by his children Brenda Roote; Cinda Brubaker & Scott Smith; Brian & Gina Booker: grandchildren Tod & Jennifer Miller; Amanda & Claye Anderson; Ryan & Sarah Brubaker; Haven & Philip Zimmer; Brianna & Jason Adams; Clint & Brandy Mikesell; Lindsay Mikesell: 10 great-grandchildren. 

Services will be held on Friday April 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 7418 State Route 121 Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Alliyah Greaver officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday April 28, 2022 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio and 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the church.  Veteran’s graveside honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or EverHeart Hospice.
