Vernita Longfellow Hamilton

VERNITA LONGFELLOW HAMILTON, Age 94, of Greenville, Ohio, died June 28, 2022, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville, Ohio.  Vernita was born in Greenville, Ohio to Earl and Sylvia (Burns) York.  Vernita was married to Harold Longfellow for 44 years until he passed in December 1994.  She remarried in 1996 to Max Hamilton.  They were married for 22 years until he passed in December 2018.

Vernita was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Greenville, Ohio, and played piano at the church for many years.  She and her Husband, Harold, often supplied the music and singing for local churches and camp meetings.  She was kind, sweet, talented, organized, caring and the best cook and pie baker.  She was a prayer warrior and a wonderful Christian woman.  She memorized scriptures as a child and could quote many of them even in her 90’s.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her Father-Earl York; Mother-Sylvia York; Sister-June York; Sister-Arlene York; First Husband-Harold Longfellow; and Second Husband-Max Hamilton.

Survivors include:  Son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Pat (Stuart) Longfellow of Greenville, Ohio, Daughter and son-in-law, Jeff and Jana (Longfellow) Boudouris of Dayton, Ohio; Grandchildren: Aaron and Jeannie (Longfellow) Reid of New London, Minnesota, Doug and Kelli (Lynch) Longfellow of Greenville, Ohio, and Ryan and Sarah (Spector) Boudouris of Columbus, Ohio; Great Grandchildren: Gregory Reid, Daniel and Elisabeth Reid, Jonathan Reid, Hope Reid, Aleta Longfellow, Valor Longfellow, and Georgia Boudouris.

Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Rev. J.K. Warrick, Rev. Ron Reynolds and Rev. Drew Bush officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery Ft. Jefferson, Ohio.  There will be no visitation.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to LifeWise Academy in care of Trinity Wesleyan Church 1400 East Main Street Greenville, Ohio, 45331.
