Greenville, Ohio — The Darke County Solid Waste District, in partnership with Farmers State Bank, will host a FREE County Shred Day on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (or until the truck is full) at the Darke County Fairgrounds (800 Sweitzer St., Greenville). Please enter at Gate 1 (closest to Eikenberry’s). No pre-registration required.
Why shred? Shredding helps prevent identity theft—the misuse of personal identifying information (PII), such as Social Security or driver’s license numbers, for fraudulent gain. Paper tossed in the trash can fuel check fraud, credit card fraud, and other forms of identity theft.
What to bring (paper only):
Old tax returns, bank statements, pay stubs, checkbooks, insurance policies, medical information, legal files, utility bills, credit card statements, receipts, invoices, pre-approved credit offers, and investment records.
Not accepted:
3-ring binders, binder clips, bound books, VHS/cassette tapes, floppy disks, CDs, photographs/pictures, or X-rays.
Event details & limits:
- Cost: Free
- Limit: Up to 8 boxes per household or business (1 cubic foot per box)
- On-site shredding: All documents are shredded on location
- Certificate of destruction: Available upon request
- Drive-through only: Please remain in your vehicle.
