The Darke County Animal Shelter would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of Matt Hiestand for their loss.
For the past three years, the Hiestand family has held a memorial golf outing at the Union City Country Club in Matt’s honor, raising donations to support local causes. This year, they chose the Darke County Animal Shelter as the recipient of their generous donation in memory of Matt, who was a devoted animal lover.
Today, we had the honor of welcoming Matt’s parents, Cy and Debbie Hiestand, along with his daughter, Mattie Hiestand, and her boyfriend, Weston Mote, to the shelter. They presented a check for $1,800 to Officer Johnson on behalf of this year’s outing.
We are incredibly grateful to the Hiestand family and to everyone who participated in the golf outing. Your generosity will go a long way in helping the dogs in our care and continuing Matt’s legacy of compassion for animals.
