Grant Pohlman is a senior at Versailles High School and participates in the Agriculture Education Capstone Program and has been selected as the capstone highlight student of the month. The Versailles Agriculture Education Capstone Program is in it’s tenth year of existence. Grant is the son of Ted and Diane Pohlman of Versailles, Ohio. Capstone is a program that gives Versailles High School Junior and Senior Students that are enrolled in agriculture education an opportunity to gain real world employment experiences and opportunities while in high school.
Grant started working at Custom Foam in October of 2020 and has continued to work throughout his senior year and has worked over 3,000 hours. Grant’s primary roles at Custom Foam includes operating water jet, band saw and table saw all in which he cuts foam, he also assists in unloading trucks and operating hot plate, skiver, press and densifier. Tony Gehret, 1st shift manager at Custom Foam is quoted by saying “Grant is a real asset to Custom Foam, he is productive, on time, responsible and self guided. Tony also stated that Grant is requested by the truck drivers to unload them due to his hard work ethic. Grant is approachable and willing to jump in to help with any task asked of him and works well with the staff at Custom Foam.” In addition, Steve Berger, another lifetime employee of Custom Foam stated that “Grant is very polite, hard worker and willing to help out others.”
Custom Foam was started in 1998 in Ft Loramie, Ohio by Steve Sherman and Nick Fullenkamp and is an innovative company specializing in foam materials for a broad range of applications and a variety of markets.
