Over the years, we’ve all figured out that the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is all about money.
This comes as no surprise but the placement of these third round tournament games puzzles me and many others as well.
To a point I can understand why Versailles and Country Day will play in Xenia even though they could’ve played it in a more convenient location like Centerville or Huber Heights.
However, the placement of Ansonia and Tri-Village is mind-boggling.
Ansonia and St. Henry will will be traveling to Piqua…WHY?
Two teams that are within 20 miles of each other should play on a field a little closer…like Celina.
On the other hand, the Patriots and the Anna Rockets will go to Lima Senior High School…WHY?
A more convenient location for these two teams would’ve been Greenville.
A few years ago the gas prices were so high, these schools couldn’t afford to travel.
Granted, fuel prices are a little more manageable but isn’t it a little more comprehensible to continue to do this.
What will it take for the OHSAA to think about more about the schools and their fans and less about its own pockets.
Granted, these neutral sites will benefit from the games being played there but are these locations the only sites available?
Will someone please clarify why these schools are being forced to travel like this?
Maybe we should just play all games in Hawaii this way everyone can vacation together.
