Accident on SR49 caused power lines to come down

On December 9, 2024 at approximately 4:39 pm Darke County Deputies along with Greenville Township Rescue, Greenville Township Fire and Greenville Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of State Route 49 and Heritage Road in reference to an injury accident. 

Preliminary investigation revealed a silver a 2008 Toyota Matrix, driven by a Terry Cameron (71) of Arcanum, Ohio Was traveling south on Sweitzer Street when Cameron side swiped a vehicle that was stopped at the traffic light of Sweitzer Street and Fair Street. The vehicle was a gray 2015 Toyota Highlander, driven by a Brian Hott (51) of Greenville, Ohio with a passenger, Amanda Neff (48) of Greenville, Ohio.  After the initial crash Cameron continued south bound on Sweitzer Street approaching State Route 49.  Hott attempted to get Cameron to pull over and got in front of Cameron’s vehicle.  Cameron then rear-ended Hott and both vehicles continued south bound.  When approaching the intersection of State Route 49 and Heritage Road.  Cameron went off the road to the right striking a Utility pole causing power lines to come down and the vehicle came to rest when Cameron struck a tree.  A white 2023 Ford Transit van driven by Maurice Herron (55) of Greenville was traveling southbound on State Route 49 when he struck low hanging wires causing minor damage to his vehicle.

Cameron was transported by Greenville rescue to Wayne HealthCare where it discovered that Cameron was having a medical emergency during this accident. Hott transported Neff to Wayne HealthCare for apparent minor injuries.
