Greenville, OH September 17, 2024 – The Legislative Committee of the Greenville Business & Professional Women’s Club (BPW) hosted the September 12, 2024meeting which was held at the Darke Rural Electric Community Building in Greenville. The committee consisted of Chair Gail Snyder and members Deb Niekamp, Vicki Cost and Susan Fowble.
Committee chair Gail Snyder introduced the featured speaker Aime Purnell-Davis who is the Nurse Manager in Primary Care at the Women’s Health Clinic at the Dayton VA Medical Center. Davis started as an air traffic controller 26 years ago. She is a Veteran and has served her country in several locations. In 2020 43% of the women’s veterans were utilizing the healthcare benefits. 100 years of women’s health care was celebrated in 2023. She gave a timeline of women veterans starting in 1901 when women officially started serving. 6000 women in Dayton receive benefits from the VA. On June 12, 2024 the Dayton VA was named after Charity Adams Early a woman veteran who served as a post master. Virtual support and in person group support are offered by the Dayton VA. Many services exist including helping the homeless, abused and those having mental health issues. By 2040 it is expected that 18% of the Military will be women.
The Membership Committee recognized new member Jodie Anderson that joined the local Club this year.

The Greenville BPW Club’s mission is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information. The Club holds fundraisers through the year to raise money to grant scholarships to the young women of Darke County. They meet the second Thursday of every month for a dinner meeting.
