Alice was a creative entrepreneur, encouraging her sons in avenues of small business ownership. Along with her husband, Alice owned Chappie’s Dairy Bar in Versailles for many years. With a love for sewing, Alice started Alice’s Bridal Boutique in the side garage attached to their home in Versailles. She offered a variety of modern bridal and prom attire to customers from multiple surrounding counties. In the mid 1980’s she moved her growing bridal business to Troy until her retirement in 1997. Alice had a giving spirit and continued sewing to provide burial clothing for stillborn babies. She later made many creative fun bibs for the elderly at Dorothy Love.
Alice loved the warmth of the sun on her face and the wind in her hair. She could be found roller skating with her boys, square dancing with her friends, roller blading or riding her bicycle for exercise. She enjoyed riding on the back of Ralph’s Goldwing motorcycle and enjoying the lakes in their boat. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and in her younger years she volunteered to teach CCD. In her retirement she liked to travel, making new friends along the way. She loved curling up to watch a movie with a cup of hot chocolate or a bowl of ice cream or getting a fresh grown tomato from her garden. Alice loved the Lord and would seek to attend any church service she could get to. She will be greatly missed by her family.
