Andgie B Shirk

JANUARY 31, 1960 – AUGUST 2, 2024

Today we remember and celebrate the life of Andgie Shirk, a person who touched the hearts of everyone she met. It is never easy to say goodbye, but it is in these moments that we find strength in our shared memories and the love we carry forward.

Andgie was the first born of four siblings on January 31, 1960 in Logansport IN to the late Andrew and Alvira Booher, and from the very beginning, she exhibited a zest for life that was truly contagious. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special, always finding time to listen, support, and share a kind word. Her laughter and quick wit were melodies that brightened even the darkest of days, and her generosity knew no bounds.

Family was at the core of Andgie’s existence. As a Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandma and Great Grandma, colleague, and friend, Andgie embodied what it means to be dedicated and loving. She always put their loved ones first, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Andgie taught us the value of hard work, integrity, and compassion. She loved her cats and they loved her

Andgie is survived by her husband, John Shirk; sister, Flo Dempsey; grandchildren, Leigha Durham and Fheobiee Shaffer; and great grandchildren, Ember and Caspin Durham.

In addition to her parents, Andgie is also preceded in death by a son, Dustin Stachler; great grandson, Greyson Durham; and brothers, George and Vince Booher.

Beyond the family, Andgie was a cherished friend and an esteemed member of the community. Andgie retired from GTI after 25 years of service, paving the way from the start of GTI. Her passion for The Great Darke County Fair, The Eldora Speedway, The Minster October Fest, playing euchre, and parchessi brought her joy and allowed her to connect with so many people. Andgie showed us what it meant to live a life of purpose and enthusiasm.

As we reflect on Andgie’s life, we are reminded of the many lessons she imparted. She taught us to appreciate the little things, to cherish our time with loved ones, and to live each day to its fullest. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In times of sorrow, we often find comfort in the words of others. “Grace is what matters in anything, especially life, especially growth, tragedy, pain, love, and death” These words remind us that while Andgie may no longer be with us in body, her spirit remains, guiding us and inspiring us to live with the same grace and love that she did.

Today, as we say our final goodbyes, let us remember the joy Andgie brought into our lives. Let us celebrate the beautiful person she was and the incredible impact she had on all of us. Though she may be gone, her memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace Andgie. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
