ARCANUM- No matter what Arcanum did, Tri-Village had a answer as the Patriots posted a 28-20 victory in WOAC action Friday.
Arcanum dented the end zone first when sophomore Bishop Cartwright went in from 27 yards out in the second quarter for the first score of the game.
It took the Patriots less than one minute to answer when junior quarterback Trey Sagester connected with senior Lane Bierly on a 69 yard strike and with 6:54 remaining in the half, the Patriots were up 8-6.
Tri-village would never trail the rest of the night.
The Patriots would take a 16-6 lead with 1:31 left in the half on a 39 yard romp by sophomore Haden Hunt.
That would the final score of the half and a 16-6 lead at the break.
The two teams would put points on the board in the third but it was the Patriots defense that turned the trick late in the game, stopping the Trojans at every turn.
“I was quite happy with my defense especially in the late stages of the game,” said Matt Hopkins. “They would bend but not break.”
On the night, Sagester was 11 of 26 through the air for 217 yards with one touchdown passing.
“Trey is the one that y l] there,” said Hopkins. “He sees the fiel well and knows where is backs and receivers are at most of the time.”
With the win, the Patriots go to 4-2 on the season and will host Dixie next week.
The Trojans are also 4-2 with the loss despite a stellar performance from Sophomore Bishop Cartwright. Cartwright was 10 of 21 for 171 yards and a interception.
The Trojans will host Preble Shawnee next.
